It was a great location for some wonderful hiking. It was quiet when we were there. With unobtrusive security lighting it was great to be able to enjoy the darkness for star-gazing at night time.

Peaceful setting with gorgeous views, chalet was very comfortable and tastefully decorated. Lots of lovely walks/hikes straight from the and options to visit spa at the cavern . Staff were really friendly and can take you on guided walks. The little shop was handy - filter coffee hard to come by so bring your own and a plunger.

“A Perfect Mountain Escape”

This was our second visit to Sungubala Eco Camp, and it was even better than our first. Returning after two years, we were genuinely impressed by the thoughtful upgrades around the lodge, which shows how much care the team puts into improving the guest experience. We stayed in a two-bedded chalet that was clean, comfortable and well designed. The outdoor kitchen overlooking the valley was easily the highlight of our stay. Cooking breakfast with mountain views and relaxing outside in the evenings made every day feel special. The peaceful off-grid setting is one of the things that makes this place so unique. There is no noise or distraction, just nature, fresh air and complete quiet. It is the perfect environment to slow down and reset. The hiking options are fantastic. You can walk straight from the camp onto several routes, including the beautiful Bishop’s Inkaba trail, which offers stunning scenery and a great mix of challenge and reward. A big thank you to Simon, the camp manager, who was always friendly, helpful and full of positive energy. His presence genuinely added to our stay. The chalet has everything you need for both short and long visits. The king-sized bed is extremely comfortable, the sofa is great for relaxing, and the kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, utensils, plates and glasses, etc. which makes settling in very easy. Overall, Sungubala Eco Camp is a real gem. It is peaceful, scenic and incredibly relaxing. We loved every moment of our stay and will definitely be back. Highly recommended!

We booked two bungalows (2 persons each) and absolutely loved them: • Each has a fully equipped outdoor kitchen with literally everything you could need. • The two bungalows are next to each other – perfect for cooking or braaiing together. • Super comfy beds, cozy couch, open fireplace, and stylish, modern décor. • Steps down to the kitchen (just good to know). • Parking space at the entrance; staff kindly help with luggage transfer. • Small pool for cooling off. • Small shop on-site for essentials, but no supermarkets nearby – best to come prepared. This is a great place to enjoy the scenery, go for a hike, or simply relax. We left with so much gratitude for the beauty and tranquility of this place – it’s a little gem in nature. ❤️

Beautiful dreamy setting, clean rooms, comfortable furniture and bedding, amazing fully equipped kitchen! Easy to access on cemented road. Loved the 2 sleeper chalets, walks were beautiful but hopefully next time it won’t be as wet/rainy.
