spectacular location. if you are planning to do a trip purely dependent on public transport, then this hotel is simply unbeatable in terms of location. hotel was also very responsive and helpful with queries. room was clean with hot water and the breakfast was great!

Location is excellent as only few mins walking distance between train station and hotel. Bus stop just next to train station and its around 20 mins to Konigssee. Breakfast ok which can make you full. Room is with fantastic river view like poster card.

Excellent stay at Schwabenwirt in Berchtesgaden. Nice spacious room with modern bathroom. Good selection during breakfast buffet. Very good dinner options either ala carte or buffet. Great location in the centre of town. Can be recommend

The room was acceptable for a 3 star hotel, nothing special. Parking was convenient. However, the Wi-Fi was very poor. Sound insulation was also a problem: at around 3 a.m., children from the room above were running back and forth and woke us up. The noise continued for about two hours. Breakfast was average, roughly at the level of a typical German hotel. Considering the price per night, the overall value for money was clearly disappointing and hard to justify.

When booking the hotel, I left a comment saying I would really appreciate a mountain view. They listened to my request and provided us with a room with an absolutely incredible view. The staff were very friendly, the breakfast was delicious and offered a great variety. Parking was convenient and comfortable. The location is perfect — a golden middle between everything.

With the majority of visitors to Berchtesgaden arriving by train, this hotel is perfectly situated only 100 m from the station and local/regional buses. Although the listing is 3 star I feel it borders on four. The majority of rooms have views of the iconic Watzmann mountain that overlooks the town, ranging out to the Jennerbahn and Eagles Nest. Quite spectacular, and snow capped well into summer. It is a 10 minute walk uphill into the town centre, and if you are less abled, you may find the trip up a tad steep, but buses from across the road will take you into the zentrum for free using the Guest Card issued by the hotel. A taxi rank is also by the station. The rooms are spacious, immaculate and they appear to be triple glazed, making your room completely divorced from the traffic outside and from the internal noise of the hotel itself. Mattresses are all expensive memory foam (firm but extremely comfortable). There is a large walk in shower in the bathroom, plus a hairdryer and shaver point. Note that the usual hair/body wash is there in dispenser form, but the wash itself is basic, and you might need to buy something different from the supermarkets opposite (q.v.). There is a main restaurant, and a bar restaurant, both working off the same menu that is available in English, (if you are a meat eater, I really recommend their "Schwabenwirt Pan" consisting of three different types of meat.) The Maitre D is a credit to the hotel, courteous, polite, knowledgeable and with perfect English, he works hard to ensure you enjoy your stay. Beer is £4 per half litre and it is about the same for 20cl of white or red wine. Breakfast is buffet style, with hot food consisting of scrambled/boiled eggs and sausages. Over the road there is a small mall containing two supermarkets and a drink market. Supermarkets are Lidl and Rewe (Lidl being Lidl and Rewe being Waitrose). All in all, a great base for your Bavaria visit.

Fantastic location, clean and great breakfast! Close to the train station, short walk to Alstad & bus stop to get to Königssee lake. Staff were extremely helpful.
