Set in Beppu and only 25 km from Oita Bank Dome, Kunisakisou offers accommodation with sea views, free WiFi and free private parking. “Everything was perfect!”

The staff were really friendly and helpful. The Ryokan itself was beautiful, and the traditional breakfast was excellent. The private onsen really topped the whole stay off. I unfortunately only had one night there, but immediately wished I had stayed in Beppu, and this Ryokan, longer. Many thanks to the staff for a great stay.

“I loved it!!!”
The best Private Onsen title either Sea or Mountain views, 50 min complimentary session. We booked a family suite to spoil ourselves 1 night. We have a 2 level room. Upstairs living room has several tatami which were very soft and comfortable; if sleeping on the floor is the traditional Japanese style you do not mind experiencing. The bathtub is and onsen with spring water running. Very luxurious.

The rooms were very comfortable, we enjoyed staying on the tatami mat futons. The rooftop outdoor onsens were fabulous, perfect temperature to warm up in the cold early spring air. The staff were also very helpful and attentive and made accommodations to my meals as I have specific intolerances. The Kaiseki breakfast & dinner courses were also very tasty! The close location made it very easy to visit all the main natural hotspring parks.

Quiet and peaceful and very relaxing. The yukata is very pretty and elegant and they provide a pretty basket for you to put towels to go to the onsen. Located within walking distance (30mins) to Hells of Beppu.

Comfortable, large room with lovely views. Food was excellent - Both Kaiseki Dinner and Breakfast served. Welcome drinks a nice touch. Bags already in our room when we arrived which I loved. Private and Public onsens both great.

“Overall good stay but let down by the room.”
Small but cosy ryokan. Friendly helpful staff. We had mixed opinions about the Twin Room, whilst it looked nice and the beds were comfy, the windows let it down. We did enjoy the rooftop private onsens and had no problem booking them each day for the times we wanted. The other priavte onsen slightly down the road was rustic and very hot but still enjoyable. The public onsen was quite small and the outside open-air bath area could really benefit from some lighting at night, if not to just light up those beautiful kumquat trees. The breakfast was excellent and different each day. I also enjoyed the free local mugi shochu whilst sitting in the lounge area. Location in Kannawa was fantastic and very close to the jigoku hells with good options to eat nearby (parituclarly Oono yakitori izakaya). Also the Highway Bus stop is just a 5 minute walk away (we arrived from Nagasaki) and the Kannawa bus station is a similar distance (we departed to Fukuoka). As expected the other guests were almost entirely Korean/Western.

“Lovely place to stay”
The art hung around the property. The beds & pillows were very comfortable. The onsen upstairs was lovely. Great location to restaurants. Great parking.

“Disappointing”
- great location, direct bus connection from JR Beppu station to Kannawa and from there on only 6 minutes walking - friendly staff
