Happy Neko was so fantastic! We couldn't have asked for a better location, and the room was so cozy. The host was very kind and gave us a map highlighting all the best restaurants and onsen in the area. It felt like a little home away from home and we were really sad to leave!

The check-in and information of the local surroundings and where to go in Beppu were spot on. We really appreciated the help. No shower/bath in the room but you are in Beppu for a reason right? Go to one of the tens and tens of public bathhouses or reserve a private bath like we did. Again, all thanks to the great staff helping out with recommendations!

Such a lovely little apartment, Japanese-style, with all the necessary amenities! The AC was the cherry on top — we arrived on a very cold day (0°C!) and it heated the room up in no time. The futons were super comfy and warm too. There's no shower in the apartment, but it's very close to lots of onsens, so you'll definitely get to shower and relax there. 😊

The appartments are close to many onsens in the area. The owners were very kind! We loved the tatami style room. Beautiful place to relax.

Best for treditional ryokan experience

Kind owners with lots of good advice on what to do in the area. Clean, spacious, washing machine available. Yeah there is no shower, but you're going to the onsen twice a day anyway :)

“Amazing!”

Room : Clean, comfortable and spacious (Good for 2pax). It is a studio type apartment. There is a washing machine and mini kitchen to prepare light meals ( “Marushoku マルショクやまなみ店” A local supermarket that is walkable from the apartment. 5-7 minutes walking. ) I will definitely come back again in the future if I am visiting Beppu! Please take note there are no shower/bath facilities in the toilet but there are a lot of public bathhouses nearby. Public sento 1) 谷の湯 - 150yen (open till 9pm) just behind the apartment. 1 minute walking. (I personally like this sento more than the big one because the water quality here is better and the crowd are lesser. The bath pool is very rustic. Remind me of Showa era Anime. 2) Hyotan Onsen (public/family room available) - 1020yen (open till 1am). 5 minutes walk from the apartment. * There are alot of sento nearby which cost ard 150yen-200yen (non touristy but tattoos okay!) Just walk in, usually they do not have a reception you can just drop the money to the box place at the entrance table and proceed to the pool. * Coin Laundry (24 hrs) - CoroCoroコインランドリー別府やまなみ店 : 10 minutes walking from the apartment. Just opposite the local supermarket. Anytime Fitness (Gym 24hrs) & lawson (convenience store 24hrs) are in the same building. This self laundromat already includes detergent. Infamous Jigoku Hell Tour - The apartment is located in the heart of Kannawa as it is relatively close to the supermarket, convenient store, laundromat, Mcdonalds, onsen & sento and also the Jigoku hell tour! Im telling you it is only a 10 mins walk to the Shiraike Jigoku. Public transportation - 6 minutes walk to Kannawa bus stop 1 & 2 ( Bus stop 1 bound to Beppu station) / You can purchase the kamenoi bus all day pass $22 from the tourist information hub located at Kannawa bus stop 2. With the pass you can travel to yufuin in less than 1 hour. From the same bus station you can also board the bus directly to Fukuoka Airport.

“Great apartment and location”

For such a good price you get a traditional Japanese apartment all for yourself! It was clean, comfortable and cozy. There is no shower, but they give you towels to use in public baths (and there are tons of them around). Speaking of which, the location is amazing, it's in the coolest area of Beppu where steam is coming out of the ground on the streets. There is a big popular onsen in 5 minute walk and smaller ones just around the corner. The owner was very nice and told me about the best onsens and sightseeing spots in the area.

“Strategical place to stay!”

The location is ideal to explore the area nearby and to reach all the points of interest of Beppu. The room is simple and optimal. It has a tee heater, washing machine and a small kitchen area. The host, that is very welcoming and speak english very well, provides you with towels, soap and all the instruction you need to get the best out for the area. Indeed there is no place for showering, but if you are in Beppu you go to the Onsen nearby, so indeed is no need for one in the room. Super experience overall, very nice street to have a walk in the evening.

It's convenient location, easy to walk around and explore the famous Hot Springs.

Location handy for the onsen area, friendly owner who talked me at length through what was in the area despite my late arrival, got a good night of sleep, and lastly an attractive price which makes it hard to take too many issues with anything!
