“A characterful hotel, with a very well kept gardens, and a sparkling swimming pool.”

I really liked this place. I was using it as a waiting place while I tried to re-arrange travel home due to disruption in the middle east. The old house [155 years old] was really characterful and I enjoyed its old world charms. I didn't go in the newer block behind the swimming pool but that looked good too - perhaps with more spacious rooms. I really enjoyed the swimming pool which was a few yards from my room, through the superbly maintained tropical garden. Breakfast was good - in particular the Sri Lankan omelettes. The staff were friendly and efficient. While it is not on the beach top - as other places I have stayed at in the area have been - the walk is so short as to make that irrelevant - about 2 minutes. A few people have mentioned the proximity to the train track as a downside but I really liked it. While I loved the quietude of the setting when dozing in my planters' chair I also quite enjoyed the interruption of the odd passenger train rolling past. It provided interest.

Its the Perfect Place to relax, enjoy the sun at the Pool or at the Beach ( just 4min walking) The stuff is super friendly and helpful. We would defnetly recommend this place!

A very relaxing comfortable stay with extremely friendly and helpful staff who kept me well stocked up with bottled water,tea,coffee,sugar and powdered milk.A very nice balcony over the swimming pool with great views of the hotel grounds,the pool too was fantastic!breakfast was not self service,nice fruit platter to start with plenty of toast and either a choice of omelette or fried egg with sausages.Only had one evening meal over my duration which was very nice.Hotel also ran a very handy/on time airport shuttle taxi.Location was very close to the beautiful beach and two very nice restaurants but around a mile outside of Bentota.

“Super location with a pristine beach across the road”

Property is well located, but touching the railway tracks (this also makes it difficult for bigger vans in approach crossings). Pristine beach just 2 mins away (crossing tracks and road). Room was excellent, much bigger than the photos suggested, pool was ample sized and clean. Delicious veg Sri lankan breakfast was provided too.

It was nice to be out of the hustle and bustle of Bentota. Across the road was a beautiful stretch of beach that was not busy, along with great beach clubs and restaurants. Included breakfast was always delicious (fresh juice, fruits and either English or Sri Lankan breakfast) and the restaurant was excellent for dine in lunch and dinner despite a small menu. The staff were wonderful, very thoughtful and kind. Their recommendations for sightseeing and booking tours such as a river safari was good value and excellent experiences.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was adequate. Lovely, old worldly, building (Sinhalese Manor House). Lovely old period furniture. Didn't try the pool (reined every day!) Train track just outside the front gate.

“Beautiful hotel.”

The room and the buildings were just beautiful. The room was big and I loved the beautiful garden. The pool looked good, though I didn’t try it. The hotel has its own tuk tuk that can take you to town forms small fee. The staff was friendly and the breakfast was just right. My room had garden view which meant that the tracks were right there at the end of the garden. The sound didn’t bother me. But you can hear it in the room so if you’re a light sleeper this might not be the hotel for you. The garden view was wonderful though. The hotel does not have a private beach. You have to cross the tracks in order to go to the beach, but it’s a couple of minutes walk from the hotel so it’s not a days hike away:) There is a nice restaurant with sunbeds and parasols on the beach that you can use for free if you buy things from the restaurant. Unfortunately the waves were to big so I couldn’t swim in the sea which also meant that I checked out after two nights. I was meant to stay for 4. The staff was friendly and the breakfast was just right. I took a trip to Galle from here which the hotel helped me find a driver for a reasonable price.

Beautiful clean and large bedroom. Staff were excellent and very friendly. Amazing setting with well kept gardens. Yes the train track is nearby but they go past really slowly. The stunning beach is 2 minutes away. Highly recommend for a relaxing stay

Property was nice and old with lot of greenery with courteous staff..but don't expect any modern facility even phone line in the room was not there neither expect any fancy breakfast buffet rather very ordinary...even the location next to train line is a red flag..

“Excellent hotel 👍👍👍”

Stayed here for 2 nights during our tour of Sri Lanka the rooms are great, comfy bed large balcony kettle, air-conditioning and plenty of room, the hotel and ground are beautiful with a loverly swimming pool. The beach is only a five minute walk, use The Wave restaurant which is on the beach, you get free sunbeds and the food is very good, they have a singer on some nights who was pretty good. Definitely recommend Sandali Walauwa for a stop on your trip to this beautiful country.

The property was a secluded area with a beach nearby , swimming pool for the guests till 10 pm , rooms are beautiful and spacious And THE BREAKFAST was simple but can satisfy all the different tastes in a delicious way .
