“Beautiful, tranquil setting, unique gardens and architecture”

Most beautiful location, quiet extensive gardens extending from one water edge to another. Unique Geoffrey Bawa landscape architecture and buildings and landscaping . Birds, purple face monkeys leaping in the high trees, mongoose. Treated like royalty by the staff . Fantastic pool overlooking a lake.

A stunningly beautiful location surrounded by wonderful gardens and lakes. Very peaceful and private, enhanced by great staff who are passionate about the place and made us feel very welcome. Breakfast and dinner on the terrace, overlooking the lake, were very memorable as was gin and tonic hour! Staying here was the highlight of our trip to Sri Lanka.

Exceptional stay in a truly unique estate Our stay at Lunuganga was memorable and deeply inspiring. The estate is exceptionally beautiful and serene, and Geoffrey Bawa’s vision can still be felt throughout the property. The service was warm, attentive, and genuinely gracious. The team made us feel very welcome from start to finish. The food and overall atmosphere were also excellent. If anything could be improved, perhaps a little more flexibility in dining options in the evening would make the experience even better. That said, it did not take away from what was a very special stay. We would happily return.

The whole property is so special because of the surroundings and the story, but also you will feel for some days like literally living in this kind of space, with this kind of house and gardens, so you will feel special too. The staff was very friendly, very natural, feels like home everything.

The Full Breakfast was the best of my trip, excellent, beautifully cooked and so tasty. The dinner menu is quite varied but we chose the Sri Lankan curry which was really delicious. The pre dinner free gin and tonics served in the gardens looking out at the amazing view as the sun began to set were superb!! The whole place is just dreamy, a real experience. Being a bird lover there were so many different species, and their sounds, so tropical! The knowledgeable staff member Suneth helped with pointing out and identifying birds for me. The guided garden tour on arrival was so interesting, and then afterwards being able to wander around knowing the history of each particular garden area was very beneficial. The atmosphere of this property and its gardens is truly magical!

I loved staying at Lunuganga and experiencing the wonderful house, buildings, garden and history of Geoffrey Bawa. It's truly a unique experience in a unique house and garden.

The house and gardens are just incredible. The staff are charming and attentive and the food exceptional. I loved my yoga sessions under a tree. It was magical to see a kingfisher and many other birds. The “ house” mongoose is a real character!

Beautiful location on the lake with wonderful garden and gorgeous art objects. Geoffrey Bawa's design using squares, black and white, beautiful vistas were very pleasing to the eye.

Great management and maintenance. Love the atmosphere and everything here. Definitely try the jin at the spot that Jeffrey Bawa loves. Food is quite good, love the coconut ice cream.

One of the most beautiful places I’ve ever stayed, a truly magical location. The staff were beyond lovely and catered to every need, even let us tour the other rooms if guests weren’t staying. A trip I won’t forget, wish I could have stayed longer :)
