The owners are super nice and welcoming, the breakfast was amazing and the room we had was simply wonderful. Bed was very comfortable and the views were to die for.

Loved the view from the balcony overlooking the river. The swimming pool was a great bonus as well. Loved the beach and the boat ride across the river to access it. Breakfast was great as was the seafood/ fish when we had a couple of evening meals.

Breakfast was delicious although the spread was limited. But that’s not a concern as the portion sizes were good enough for a meal.

This is a small well run hotel. Owners are friendly and very helpful. Staff are also lovely and go out of their way to make you feel welcome and looked after. Excellent value for money. Location is quiet and on the river rather than the beach but owners have a boat to ferry you over to the beach. Room was spacious with a good size bathroom and balcony overlooking the river. Breakfast is excellent. Selection of fresh fruit and yoghurt and choice of cooked food too. Good range of food available on site, cooked to order. Fresh fish and shellfish were very tasty. Owners can organise driver, boat safari and airport transfers. You can walk into town or tuktuks available nearby.

Lovely large room that was very clean, right on the lake edge. The hotel has a nice swimming pool and a restaurant. Friendly staff. You can take a boat across to the beach from the hotel

The host was great and we had opportunity to interact with owner and had enjoyed cooking of Indian cuisine. Free speed boat facility to visit Bentota beach was provided as per our convenience. Food served was superb.

“I’m very happy with my choice”

I loved this hotel, the room was amazing (it even had a jacuzzi) and the restaurant delicious. The owner Nuwan was very nice, he even picked us up at the train station and offered us a welcome drink. I would have loved to stay more! We did the morning river safari and went to the beach in the afternoon, which is right in front, on the other side of the river (they will take you with their boat and pick you up). Highly recommend!

Upon arrival at this location, the staff did not hesitate in carrying our bags and belongings, in to our apartment. Our apartment was very spacious, clean with a fantastic views from the balcony. The staff served very tasty meals and drink. For approximately 5000 SL Rupee, the staff took us on a beautiful boat trip, which lasted for approximately 1.5 hours. Overall we had a fantastic time. Definitely a place to consider down south.

Amber House is like a small hotel so you feel like part of the family as soon as you arrive. The owners and staff are friendly and attentive, even giving us a free ride to the railway station. The small restaurant produces fantastic food which is eaten in an amazing setting with a great view. Rooms were spacious and spotlessly clean.

We had great Sri Lankan breakfast, the best until now! Perfect rover view. Nuwan, the owner, drove us around, we rented kayaks to cross the river to go to a really nice beach. They took us fishing, and prepared a lovely meal the following eveing with our catch. The apartment was spacious, clean, big balcony with river view.

Breakfast was exceptional, too much for me to manage,. Location was ideal, near to Aluthgama town center, but far enough away not to be troubled by noise. Excellent train station within walking distance.

The rooms (king bed suites) were spacious. The view from the balconies of the river were great. There is a functional pool. And the property provides quick access to the beach through a boat ride. Hospitality was quite good, breakfast was customized to meet our vegetarian needs.

We had an unforgettable stay at Amber House. The room was enormous, with all modern comforts, a very spacious bathroom, and a king-size bed that made our nights perfect. The home-cooked meals were absolutely delicious, and every detail showed how much care was put into making our stay special. We loved the complimentary boat ride to the stunning, endless beach – such a unique and beautiful experience. The boat safari on the river and through the mangroves, guided by Shen, was a real highlight and gave us lasting memories. Most of all, the hospitality of our hosts, Nuwan and his lovely wife, together with their attentive and friendly team, made us feel truly at home. Their warmth and kindness turned our stay into something exceptional. We highly recommend Amber House to anyone visiting Bentota – we cannot wait to come back!

“Perfect place to stay in bentota riverside”

I like that people that attended us, they were very warm. Also I liked the pool and the fact that the was a boat directly in the hotel to do a river tour and to the beach. Shower had more than enough pressure and water was warm… after a long day this is what I need hehe In general I would repeat again.

I think i would easily say, this was the best of our total stays in Srilanka. The husband and wife are very welcoming, the property is well maintained with all good facilites, room was spacious and they offered free boat to the beach. Breakfast was good too. The view was panoramic. The bathroom had jacuzzi as well.Dont miss out.
