Location was exactly what we'd hoped - close to Forbidden City, and we walked to Tiananmen Square. Useful having all the big shopping centres just round the corner early on. We LOVED the hotel - an absolute oasis - and our room was unbelievable - huge! The staff were all kind and helpful throughout.

A fine grand old hotel. A very spacious room with excellent facilities. An excellent breakfast buffet. Location wise this was ideal, an easy walk to Tianamen square, the Forbidden Palace and central shopping areas. Also right next to an excellent subway station for getting around the city. Staff were very helpful.

We liked pretty much everything about this hotel: it was clean, comfortable, spacious and well decorated. It is also conveniently situated near Wangfujing road and the metro and within walking distance to many attractions. The staff were always polite and so friendly especially the guys at the door who were always keen to assist and chat. And special mention the concierge who was on duty during our stay. He was a huge help with advice and tickets.

Staff are really helpful..Although they dont know english but stilk they try there best to help you out in every manner.. Great Service...10/10

“Charming hotel in excellent location”

NUO Hotel Forbidden City is a well preserved classical hotel of historical character. If you appreciate heritage architecture you will like this place. We found it very charming and atmospheric. That said, it's important to note: the rooms vary a lot in style and size — depending on the building (main wing or annex) and floor. Some are more modern, others, the more classically furnished, may lack some modern features which may or may not be appreciated ( air conditioning and ventilation cannot be individually controlled in all rooms, which might be an issue in some rooms, especially during transitional seasons). We highly recommend studying the room-options carefully. The location is just great — a short walk away from the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, and other major historic sites (Temple of Heaven is walkable, too). In front of the hotel is a major metro line. Staff were mostly very friendly and welcoming. A special thank you to Ms. Ksenia — she was outstandingly helpful, knowledgeable, and seemed to be the heart of the hotel. Also a warm thank you to Jeremy — his English is excellent, and he made us feel welcome.
