This family-run guest house is set in the fresh-air resort of Beerfelden Gammelsbach, in the heart of Odenwald forest. WiFi was awful. Stayed in 3 hotels this week. This one was the least of the three but the most expensive. Staff were very nice and helpful but building itself rather old and in need of some money spending on it. Look not horrible but a bit expensive for what it was. It was also a little cold and a bit of soap and shampoo for the shower wouldn't break the bank.

Online it states that English is spoken, it clearly is not. Nothing but hassle trying to order food, and pay our bill. Hotel does not accept visa, and with no way of communicating, couldn't find a cash point. Food from the restaurant was not the best, and expensive. Breakfast was very basic, and the milk was off. Personally I will be avoiding this place.

“Ok for a stopover.”
This is a very traditional, spans generations-old bed and breakfast. Yes it's a very old hotel, but everything was clean as mentioned. Heater was tad too hot, the adjustment didn't work that great. As foreigners (Asians), we expected some resistance from them since the hotel seems to serve mostly locals. Yes we did experience that kind of feel during the stay, but it was ok. The people in the restaurant were polite and friendly towards us throughout the stay. We had dinner and breakfast there. The old grandmother, which I assume is the owner, was as expected as a typical elderly, who seems unassuring about foreigners (we had a small incident, my wife could understand a little German, but we won't mention it here). But in general, everything was bearable. I wouldn't say a bad experience, as the room, restaurant, food, environment, surroundings are really quite nice. It's just that if you don't speak German, you might expect some coldness.
