“Warm, snug Gite located in the middle of the Somme Battlefield”
The house was fully equipped, the Kitchen is all that is required. It was very nice to have an upstairs toilet (the stairs being a wee bit steep) but the downstairs bathroom was marvelous. The shower was something of note. The house also is equipped with a wood burner, which (in November) was VERY welcome. The owner kept us WELL supplied with wood which kept us warm and snug. The location, right inside the WW1 Somme battlefield.

“Wonderful stay in this very comfortable gite”
We thouroughly enjoyed our stay at le clos de caribou and highly recommend it. Our hosts were very welcoming and accomodating when we arrived an hour later than we expected to. The gite is very spacious, with comfy sofas and a large dining table. The kitchen is extremely well equipped with a huge selection of crockery and glassware, pans and cutlery. The offroad parking is perfect, and we enjoyed next door's chickens. Hamel is perfectly situated for visiting the Somme battlefield sites and cemetaries. We walked to the Ulster tower and Thiepval where there is a lovely bar/cafe.

“Quiet location comfortable accommodation within easy access to local shops.”
Location was good. Seemed recently decorated and cleaned. Hosts were helpful. Kitchen was well equipped.

“An idyllic place to base yourself from fir touring the area.”
The property was a beautifully renovated farm building with plenty of character. It is situated in the small village of Hamel & perfectly sited for touring the WW1 area. Our host was very engaging and helped explain everything.
