The host was super friendly and looked out for us, I really recommend this place to anyone looking for somewhere to stay. room was very spacious and comfortable beds, and the pool was lovely too.

Great accomodation (we had the garden bungalow). Clean, modern, comfortable, and very private as it is just detached from the main house in the garden, with a private sitting area right outside. Excellent, knowledgeable, gentle, friendly host with family (and dog plus often the dogs from the neighbour). Really nice breakfast and dinner with the family. And the true bonus: the trips that Huy Trung organises. We did the hike (easily done on your own after a drop-off), a day trip to the fantastically authentic Coc Ly tuesday market (only 1 more tour group from France) with subsequent boat trip on the nearby 'river' (like often in east-Asia: long lakes between dams) and the Bac Ha loop that is very different from the one in Lonely Planet (much further east) that brings you to beautiful nature and many small tribal villages with a lot of photo opportunities if you are interested in tribal dresses, and which included a lunch at a local family. Not a single tourist seen during the day - in fact, almost no cars seen for hours. In all, strongly recommended.

we had a wonderful stay which included delicious and ample dinner and breakfast at the homestay and a day tour to the Chay river and beyond with Huy Trung. I wish we had allowed for another night (or three) at the homestay, it is magical .

“Best place to stay in Bac Ha”

Excellent value for the price. I was here 9 years ago as well. The owner is super friendly and very helpful. I stepped on the wrong bus on the way back to Hanoi (the one I should have never showed up) and he came to pick me up and bring me back to the bus station to catch the next bus. What a service! You can’t go wrong at this place. You will love it! 😎

We stayed for two nights with our young family. Spacious, clean rooms with a view over the beautiful gardens. Well worth staying for dinner and breakfast - all meals were delicious! We took a beautiful day trek from the homestay with a local Hmong woman (multi-day hikes can also be arranged). Huy is very knowledgeable about the area, and we took a private day tour from Bac Ha through spectacular mountains and rural villages to Ha Giang (the long way) which included lunch and a walk through the amazing gardens at Ban Lien Forest homestay (10/10!). We would like to return to Huy Trung homestay to further explore this less travelled corner of Vietnam.

“Lovely garden homestay in non-touristy area”

Great optional meals with the family, yummy breakfast, lively garden and veg garden, super hikes and tours, and help with transport. Huy is obviously very committed to keeping tradition alive in the region and you really experience that as a guest. I chose Bac Ha over Sapa to avoid mass tourism and I’m very glad I did., even the market feels very unspoiled.

Was a great place to stop after a day riding in the rain, very kind family.
