Loved that we didn't have to rent separate rooms for our family of 5. The kids loved the loft part of the room and the fact that there was a sink up stairs meant they didn't have to come all the way down stairs to brush their teeth. All the staff we met were helpful and friendly!!! They all get a 10!!

The rooms are not fully renovated as described on the hotel’s website, but they have been refreshed and are clean and comfortable. The property appears to be family-run, with clear effort made to provide a reasonable level of comfort within practical limits. The surroundings are pleasant, and a variety of amenities are available within a 5-minute drive to downtown Bayfield. The on-site restaurant is quite good, and I appreciate the effort to maintain quality despite fluctuating demand, ranging from busy long weekends to quieter weekdays.

“Great hotel with a plethora of service options!!”
My friend and I booked here for a single night on a motorcycle tour of the coast of Lake Huron as we heard Bayfield was one of the prettiest small towns. We were disappointed in the straight and boring route from Sauble Beach to Bayfield (mostly Highway 21) as there were no views of the lake. There was also a thick, heavy, misty fog (possibly some smoke?) that completely blocked our view of any possible sunset over the water once we got to Bayfield... but I digress. These things had no impact on our stay at The Ashwood Inn. Check in was a breeze!! Loved the location of our room and ease of entry, that the doors were already unlocked and that they had both inside and outside access. ♿ This was AMAZING for unloading and loading our motorcycles!! Even though this hotel is older, it's fairly well kept. The room was clean and spacious, loved that there was a COLD mini fridge w/ freezer and microwave in our room. Decent size table and chairs, a large dresser, a huge closet and a luggage rack gave us TONS of space to spread out our gear. We did find the beds quite hard, but the pillow choices were decent.. I loved the beautiful red Muskoka chairs (so comfortable!!) and the provided ashtrays outside. Happy with the quality of the bedding and the 2 extra blankets in our room as the bedding was quite damp feeling, likely from the air conditioning. A dehumidifier setting might be available on the climate control panel, but I didn't see one.. We just turned the heat on for a bit to help dry the room out a little. I do wish I'd have read my text message (or had future knowledge) about the option to have a hot meal waiting in our room upon arrival, as we were late getting in and too exhausted to go into town so we missed dinner... either way, that is such a great service to offer!! Actually, the text updates and information were very thorough and greatly appreciated!! (Oh, how I despise email now!

“Perfect for a short stay when travelling through the area.”
Location was perfect. Quiet at this time of year and within an easy, few minute drive to Bayfield and a short drive to Goderich. The beds and pillows were comfy. Added bottled water was a plus. Also a microwave, small fridge and coffee was available to use. Contactless check-in was easy and hosts were friendly and provided great communication.

The cottage was the perfect size! Roomy, bright.And the view of the lake with the sound of the waves was idyllic! Steps from the stairs to the beach, which is a gorgeous slice of heaven.
