Very remote location and therefore peaceful and quiet except when the have a boat in front pumping water for the property. That‘s a bit noisy, but doesn’t happen every day. Nice meals, super attentive and lovely stuff, the room with the view to the ocean - divine.

“Great place to relax”

We had 2 rooms. The food was very good - the arepa dulce, mango juice, baby beef, grilled chicken were all favorites. All the staff was very friendly and helpful. Andy in particular but really all of them. The white sandy beach was great as well as the easy access and available sun loungers. It is easy to have both shade and sun. They can bring you food right on the beach! The AC in the bedrooms is great as is access to the mini-fridge in the room. It is a small hotel so we felt safe with the kids circulating. The outdoor shower to rinse off sea water is very practical. The mattresses were comfortable and the rooms were clean and they were kept clean by wonderful housekeepers. The hammocks in the main area were also wonderful.

“Perfect Caribbean holiday”

Here we experienced perfect Caribbean - the beach, food, hospitality. The rooms were comfortable and cocktails with the sunset above the sea were spot on.

“Beyond any expectation”

It was an amazing week! We wanted to unwind and relax and we got exactly that! Although the Carey doesn’t advertise as such, it is to our opinion like a boutique hotel: only 7 rooms right on the beach away from the hustle and bustle of bigger resorts, no vendors and an excellent beach that is ideal for swimming. Water sports are available just like free books, board games and several excursions to the nearby island. I strongly recommend using the transport services affiliated to the hotel (private car from Cartagena, duration: 1,5h + fast boat, only 15 minutes) because in case you experience a delay in one of them, the other waits. Our lunches and inners were amazing and fairly priced. We even had fresh lobsters three times! What makes Carey special is the care that all staff show to their guests! Andis and Néider especially take care of you as if you were one of their own circle of friends: always attentive and constantly smiling! This is also the case with every other interaction we had with the staff (it helps if you speak Spanish). It is also an extemely safe place: the door to our bungalow was constantly open and we left our mobiles in the beach table when swimming. Nothing happened! The dogs in the premises help of course as they bark at every stranger passing by. We wish we had stayed longer!

Fantastic place to stay! We spend 4 nights here and I can’t recommend it enough: - quiet, chill, relaxing vibe, you have a corner of paradise nearly to yourself - clean, the team takes care of the place and makes it very comfortable (not easy when sand easily gets everywhere) - delicious food for very reasonable prices and plenty of options (we also saw other, much higher prices in the area and thought Carey Beach priced food and drinks in such a way that it doesn’t break the bank) - very polite and attentive staff, the team is as present as you want them to be, very helpful, always with a smile - nice beach, water was great to take a swim, we could watch pelicans hunt for fish - the activities offered were great: we went on a snorkel trip and had massages at the beach. All in all: fantastic! Relaxing! Would highly recommend!

We absolutely enjoyed our stay in Carey Beach Baru. The food is amazing (try the robalo de caribe) the staff is very friendly and helps with any activities during the day as well as trustworthy transportation. We loved the 2 hour boat ride around Rosario islands including snorkeling. The hotel is kind of exclusive with just a couple of guests. Be prepared to have cash on hand for the activities if you stay at Baru. The only thing which could be improved is the airport ride from Baru village to the hotel. We had to take a small boat and the village felt a little off when we arrived there in the dark. But the hotel was great. Would definitely go there again to enjoy a safe and quiet beach vacation. Also safe for children (no waves). If you want to visit Cartagena city as well as the beaches I would recommend to stay 2 days in Cartagena city close to the old town and then head to the beaches like Baru or Rosario to chill and revitalize from the city. In Al our Cartagena journey, here was the best food.

“Great get away.”

Peaceful and quiet. The location is fantastic. Our room faced the sea and was directly on the beach. The rooms are comfortable, clean and nicely lit and decorated. The bathroom was fine. We enjoyed the food and cocktails. The place is perfect for families. It is safe and secure.

Boutique hotel in a great location and with amazing beach. You literally walk out of the room onto the nice beach, don't need to worry about carrying anything to the beach. Very private, quite and relaxing beach with no vendors to worry about (a major premium for beaches in Colombia), only used by the hotel guests, which only has about 10-12 rooms/appartments, so it never gets or feels crowded. Also, very safe, can leave anything behind while in the water. Sea water is clear & clean at this location and very warm. Great, quite A/C in the room which definetely helps with tge heat and humidity in August. You can only reach the hotel via private boat, which makes it unique, private and not crowded at all. Food for most offered meals is good and tasty, however see comments under the negatives. Staff is very nice, however see comments under the negatives.

“A fabulous stay would recommend !”

- beautiful secluded beach doesn’t feel busy at all which very soft sand and warm water - rooms were comfortable and strong AC - staff were extremely friendly and helpful namely Alberto and Andy - organised a great snorkelling excursion for us - food was excellent

While having stayed during low season so quieter than normal the serene location makes for having a relaxing break. Our stay was perfect from beginning to end!

The staff were so attentive, wasn’t too difficult to get to either a car drive from Cartagena then a short boat ride over. Food was great and we all really enjoyed it ended up staying another night

Is nothing to dislike about the property. The service was very good, the food was beautiful and well presented, the staff was very attentive especially Joseph. He is a pleaser. He even took coffee to our room in the morning. I recommend this hotel if you like tranquility.

“A perfect, peaceful paradise for a relaxing get away from it all beach vacation.”

The location was fantastic- beautiful white sandy beach, ocean view from bedroom window. We especially liked that there was NO music playing or smoking allowed on the property - just the sound of the birds and the waves. Good choice for breakfast and all other food from the menu for lunch, snacks and dinner (large portions). Beach bar always open to buy drinks and cocktails. Beach was cleaned and raked every morning and there were plenty of sun beds and chairs plus umbrellas and trees for shade. The staff were friendly and helpful ( also patient with us as we have zero Spanish!!!). We recommend using their suggested transport options from Cartagena - Nando (taxi) and Christian (boat). We were able to rent a boat for a couple of hours to go snorkelling and touring the islands. N.B. There are fish and a sunken plane to see when snorkelling but sadly all the coral has died. Carey Beach was the nicest sandy beach BY FAR that we saw and there were spectacular sunsets every night!
