Overview
Situated 14km north of Barberton on the R38 Kaapmuiden road, within the Barberton Mountainlands nature reserve. Ideal for birding depending on season. Out of town and no suburban noise. Accommodation is provided on a bed and breakfast basis (full English breakfast)) with dinner on request provided you advise us before arrival if we should prepare dinner for you. Malelane Gate (Kruger National Park) is only about an hours drive from Old Coach Road and within an easy reach for a day visit. For an early start, we will do a breakfast pack for a day visit. Alternatively, take the day out to explore the Barberton Geo Trail and learn more about the geological history of Earths formation. Barberton is a UNESCO World Heritage site for geology and is famous for the greenstone formations.

“Beautiful and friendly”
The owner was so pleasant. Made sure we were satisfied with everything and was there when ever we needed. The view was amazing and calming. The 2 nights went way too quick

Great location. Beautiful gardens. Wonderful history and classical old "Africa" furnishings. Owner cooked a great breakfast. Very welcoming warm hospitality. Great drinking GnT on the verandah

The food was really good, the host was friendly and the location is very good for birding.It also had a couple of nice butterflies .It is secure and has a nice swimming pool.

“Great stop”
We only stayed one short night, and it was perfect. Adriaan cooked for us at night: a simple but very enjoyable meal, reminding me of my (grand)mothers cooking back in Belgium when I was a child. I appreciated the decoration (old maps and images) and the filled bookcases in the main buildin/room, and particularly liked the bar which was decorated with souvenirs which Adriaan brought from his time in Germany (but which we sadly did not have the possibility to enjoy with a beer).

“Comfortable and Welcoming Accomodation.”
The offer of a meal at night to avoid having to go out and look for somewhere to eat. We could relax after a lot of driving. Adriaan was a warm and friendly host.

“Recommended B&B in a quiet, large garden location close to town.”
1. We wanted a restful B&B in the Barberton area. The Old Coach Road Guest House is located in a beautifully-decorated and maintained historical building on a large garden property, only 5 minutes drive from town. 2. The breakfast (with eggs to order) was excellent and the (extra-cost) extra dinner at the B&B was simple but tasty and good value. 3. Our hosts (they live on the property) were available when we needed them and they were very helpful. 4. Our bedroom (no. 4) was large and comfortably equipped.

“Pleasant Stay. Rooms and Bathrooms are dated but clean and functional.”

Wonderfully peaceful location away from any towns and traffic. The perfect base to explore the Barberton mountains from. The breakfast, and if you choose it the evening meal are excellent. Adriaan the host is a Star and will definitely help you if you need it. He saved my holiday and fixed my hire car when Hertz were proving hard to get a response from ( they did not answer the roadside assistance option - strangely though they did answer the resavation option right away!). Anyway Adriaan saved the day. Thanks a million.
