High up in the Mountain- this was truly a great experience for me and my siblings!! As cold as it was in the evening, grateful that all the rooms had heaters in them, enough blankets, a whole lot of warmth and comfort!! I also loved that our phones did not have signal// for me that is a formula to a real retreat and escape from the busy life and city. Ohhh and the outdoor showers 🙌🏽🤩🤩🤩breathtaking.

The location is so beautiful and peaceful. When you come from Barberton you pass several natural reserves, which are absolutely stunning. You drive about 30 mins to 1 hour from Barberton (depending on the weather) on a road that is well maintained. You don’t need a 4x4 to reach the destination. Great location if you are traveling to or from Swaziland as it close from the border. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We had a kitchen at our disposal and had to bring our own food (it was low season and we booked last minute). The room was well decorated, clean and had everything we needed.

“What an amazing place to visit.”

We stayed for 3 days and when it was not raining it was just the best place to be on this earth. We saw some amazing scenes of nature and the place has a calmness that is just unreal. I read all the reviews on the website and I really think some people are just unfair with their comments. So here is a brief summary of our stay. We reached the venue easily although it is a winding road but compare to the state of our roads in RSA is was good with some minor faults. If you read the description and look at the picture, know that is, is a cultural setup and experience. Do not expect a 5 star city experience, rather enjoy the place and people that goes out of their way to accommodate you. It states in the description that Wifi is limited. Believe them. Leave you phone and take in the beauty of the place. Breakfast was great and we asked them to prepare dinner for us on one evening. We received a good hearty meal which was well priced and not expensive as other comments suggested. The road to Piggs Peak is not an easy drive and you really would need a 4x4. On rainy days you will surely miss a big part of the most wonderful views but you will be able to relax in a lovely warm and stylish rondawel and find rest for your soul. The owners are building and investing in the property and we are excited to see the changes with our next visit. I slipped while caring the baggage to the rondawel, I should have waited for them to assist me and they are busy building stairs. My wife also slipped on the stoep tiles and you need to be careful when it is wet, but once again we spoke to the owner and he promised to have a look at the tiles. With our unit we asked for a braai stand but it is difficult to have a normal braai, rather use the communal kitchen / braai if you want to prepare something. There was a problem with our unit’s power when we booked in but the owner sorted it out immediately. Everyone was just so friendly and wanted to help in every way.

Lovely place sitting up in the mountains just next to the border post. One of the most stunning views from the balcony. The rooms are comfortable and the host is very welcoming.

Mountain Aloe Den has got beautiful mountain views overlooking Swaziland, that was beautiful to experience. It also has that authentic yet modern African touch which drew me to the place. The hiking experience was a bonus.
