Located in the main street of Barbate, just 10 minutes’ walk from sandy Carmen Beach of Barbate, Hostal Barbate offers a bar and snack bar serving local seafood snacks. “Good enough”
Good clean bed and shower (in a bath tub, even though there was a shower-only tap where a mixed-function tap would normally be), at an attractive rate, although minimally sized and somewhat noisy (coming from both inside and outside).

Despite the bar being refurbished and out of use the Hostal gave us everything we needed. Altough we arrived after booking in time the manager arrived promptly to let us in. Once in everything met expectations.

“Ok for the one night.”
Checking in was nice and easy, done with Google translate and whatsapp but worked well. Ok part of town with a couple of bars for breakfast.

The room was like described. The location was good, next to supermarkets and the bus station but also close to beach. It was possible to store my bicycle inside.

“Great staff, extremely clean”
The staff was really great, they allowed me to change rooms because I was so stressed out by the noise in the room I got at check-in (it looked over the main street). Still, I would have liked some help with luggage at arrival and departure, but they are understaffed and do what they can under the circumstances. Everything was very clean, all utilities working, soap, shower gel, and toilet paper dispensers. Shower curtain spotless, the kind of details that make your stay more comfortable. Both rooms I staid in smelled really nice, I really appreciated this. The wi-fi was also working very well (especially given the average quality of the internet in Southern Spain).

I liked a lot of things about this hostel. We expected something very basic but it was actually good. The toilet was big, the air conditioning and wifi worked perfectly and the food in the restaurants was delicious. We want to go back just to eat dinner once again in their hostel.

“Good value for money but be aware it’s a noisy area”
It’s fairly priced, small 10 min walk to the beach, but it’s located on a Main Street hence be aware it’s a noisy location.
