“A Chilled Night in Umma Bali”

For an overnight stay in Sumberkima this was perfect for me. Comfortable bed, cool modern air con, beautiful rice paddies and mountains just there, and my breakfast scrambled eggs were simple but yummy. Everything was good, happy to stay again.

“Umma Menjangan Retreat”

Lovely cabins in the rice paddies. No TV was good. Staff organised travel locally. Breakfast basic but good. Good Wifi. Outdoor bathroom was cute and functional. No bugs. Only 4 cabins. Pool was small but sufficient. Free Shute to Sumberkin Hill Retreat with several restaurants. People absolutely gorgeous especially the children on the walk to Mangroove.

Clean and tidy, private Lumbungs, and a nice dining area by the pool where you can meet people. Really nice owners. View is of mountains in the background with rice fields in the foreground. Rural simplicity, peaceful and homely.

Host was great! Very helpful and seen to my every need, the room theme was great and the outside, yet private, bathroom was amazing!

“Pleasant stay”

Made was great to communicate with and speaks good English. The room was clean and the bed very comfortable. This is a good place to stay to experience what it is like to stay in a village atmosphere. Kids were playing with their kites and you are amongst a rice field. Breakfast was fine. Fruit and eggs on toast.

The hospitality of the owner. He helped us organize excursions. Such as the boat trip to the dolphins or the cultural trips to the nearby temples.Very nice and quiet room. Nice view of the rice field. We would definitely go back. Side note: I am going to send a video of the property to the owner. So he can share it on social media.

First of all, the location is amazing. It is very close to nature with all its beauty in landscape, flora and sounds. You can get a very authentic picture of life on Bali here. Then on top of that, Made, the host, is a very generous and kind man, who will make sure that you have the perfect stay and that your every wish will be fulfilled.

“A hidden gem!”

Wow- What a gem!. We stayed here last week for 3 nights and Made and Nila did everything to make us feel welcome. We were the only guests (but it was low season) . There are four beautifully clean lumbung style rooms overlooking the rice paddies and the Menjangan hills. Our room had great air conditioning, comfortable beds and the bali style outdoor bathroom is among the best we have come across. It is walking distance to other great restaurants but Nila’s cooking is superb so if you don’t want to go out you can stay in and enjoy some fantastic food. Made organised our snorkelling and transport needs at great prices without any hassles. We had some great conversations with Made during our stay and learnt more about the Balinese culture and beliefs on this visit than we had in 20 years of visiting the island. Thanks for a wonderful time. We will definitely return!

Extremely friendly and helpful staff who can’t do enough to make your stay enjoyable. The rooms are absolutely incredible, so much love and care and thought has gone into making these huts unique with modern amenities. Made and his wife, are very proud of their retreat. 

“Hidden gem - a great place!”

This place is a hidden gem! Located in a nice, quiet area, in a small village in north of Bali, far from the tourist crowds where muslim and hindu people live in harmony. The villas are big, very clean and comfortable, with wonderful outside bathrooms. The garden is actually a rice field which brings a relaxing feeling to the place. There is also a small restaurant for the guests on the property and a pool, perfect after a hot day🥰 The owner is really nice and helpful, he also arranged a great massage for us and recommended a place to eat, as the restaurant was closed the evening when we arrived because of a village ceremony - where we were invited the next day🙏🏼. Also we were greeted with cold coconuts, a small detail that brought us joy. We would totally recommend the retreat and for sure we will come back for a longer stay.

The owner was very friendly, he provided all the necessary details on what to do nearby. The view was absolutely superb and the room polished clean. Pool nicely maintained, I could say that the food is not that great in diversity but who doesn’t like scrambled eggs on toast with some fresh fruit! Absolutely recommend!
