Oh my gosh the view Was so beautiful, the owners are a really lovely couple who were wonderful and so friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious with homemade bread. Rooms very nice and comfortable. They offer tours too as the husband is a local tour guide, so helpful. Highly recommend

I give the location top score even though it's a hard walk from town going up the hill (for a 60 year old with bad knees, hehe). The view, clean air and tranquility (as opposed to downtown) more than made up for it, though. The hosts, Betty and Darwin, were very friendly and invited me and a couple of other guests for an excellent new year's dinner - nice touch! The breakfasts were great. A very nice family and great hosts - keep up the good work!

“Peaceful stay above Banos”

I liked everything. It felt like being a guest in Darwin and Bettina's home. Quiet and relaxing with great views. Also the best coffee I had in Ecuador.

Very cozy homestead, with an incredible view away from the noise. Lots of flora and fauna, and the hosts were very warm and welcoming.

I liked Betina and her husband. I liked all the animals who live there. The food they cooked was amazing and I took a walk with the llamas which I loved. For me the problem was location as you need a special taxi to go up there and it’s 5 dollars but if you don’t mind walking it’s so peaceful and beautiful up there.

Thank you Darwin and Bettina for a wonderful stay, we really felt like we were at home! The hosts were so helpful and made sure we had everything we needed! The view is AMAZING, you can see the whole town so is a great location if you want to be away from the hustle of the town but not too far away! The rooms are comfortable and large and the breakfast was good, they accommodated for vegan needs also! A lovely homely feel with lovely views!

“Fantastic ambience and company over 3 night stay”

Hosts Darwin and Bettina were very accommodating helpful and friendly providing advice and history of the area. Bettinas breakfasts were delicious with fresh home made bread each morning and Darwins dinners were tasty and fabulous. The view is incredible looking down on township of Banos and nestled amongst the Andes mountains. The garden and animals were a delight to see living sustainably. Loved everything.

We had a lovely stay with Bettina and Darwin. They made us feel really at home and told us a lot about life in Ecuador and the beautiful surroundings of Banos. Breakfast with the freshly made "Hefezopf" and dinner with local treats were great, too, and we really enjoyed the view over the valley.

“A safe haven for a nervous tourist”

Casa Amarilla is beautifully located on the hillside with a stunning view of Baños. City center is just a 15 minute walk away. But what was most exceptional about our stay was the staff. Bettina and Darwin are the loveliest people I’ve met in a long time, they go above and beyond to help you with every question and are also just fun to talk to and spend time with. 10/10 I would recommend anyone to go stay here when you are going to Baños. Also speak fluent English.

La Casa Amarilla is a wonderful, homey, scenic stay! Bettina and Darwin are wonderful hosts, and we felt incredibly welcome! Bettina is very responsive (and fluent in many languages!) and an amazing cook. Fresh fruit, coffee, eggs, and freshly baked bread and homemade jam for breakfast? An absolute dream! Darwin also offers many tour options in Baños so if you’re staying here, leave some room in your itinerary for these adventures. We would definitely stay here again!

“A wonderful homestay with a beautiful view over Baños and the mountains”

It is hard to say what we enjoyed most at the wonderful casa amarilla! We felt at home and part of the host family. Bettina is a caring and attentive host and prepares a great breakfast with freshly grinded coffee and homemade bread. Darwin cooks wonderful meals (try the gui!) and can take you to almost too adventurous tours to the surrounding cloud forest. The tranquillity of the place is superb as there is no tarred road access (the host family can arrange transport by horse or 4x4 for a small fee - ask in advance) and the casa is surrounded by a wonderful garden with animals (lamas, guis, chicken, rabbits, 3 cats, 2 dogs). The two sons of the family are very entertaining and super cute. The view over Baños is especially beautiful at night and has to be eared if you choose to hike up (ca. 15’ from town and some drops of sweat). I dont think it is too far fetched to say that the stay at the casa amarilla will be a top highlight of our trip to Ecuador.
