“Simple stay with good location and friendly staff, but lacking comfort inside”

Friendly and helpful staff, a good location close to the center, and reliable hot water in the shower. I also appreciated the shared kitchen and the water dispenser, which could be used at any time to refill bottles.

breakfast was basic, but good and big :) Nice place - center, but very quiet :) Owner was super nice. He asked what time we want breakfast and he did. Terrace was super cool :)

“The best value for money”

- cozy room with comfortable bed - hot water in the shower - handsoap, towels provided - laundry service (for 6$ per load). Very quick. I got it after 3-4h - amazing breakfast (scrambled eggs, fruit with a little bit of yogurt and granola, bread, good quality jam and butter, coffee) - rooftop place with chairs, table and hammocks. While having breakfast there, I could spot few hummingbirds flying around and feeding on flowers (end of January) - very good WiFi - great location (close to restaurants, shops and bus station) - I could store my luggage there after checkout without extra charge - kitchen available - lovely dog - they rent bikes and help to book tours - very friendly and helpful owner

“A true home away from home in Baños”

After months of backpacking and staying in countless places, it’s rare to find a place where you instantly feel at home – but Casa Amarilla was exactly that. The owner is incredibly warm and genuinely kind. Every morning he prepared a delicious breakfast, and he was always around to help with anything I needed. He even lent me a swimming cap for the hot springs so I didn’t have to buy one. If you stay here, you help a family business (and not big hotel chains) and a dad who is taking great care of his sons, doing homework with them and all. My room was clean, cozy, nicely decorated and quiet, with a super comfortable bed and reliably hot shower. The rooftop terrace is lovely, perfect for relaxing after exploring Baños, and the kitchen is well equipped and really clean! The little fluffy dog Max is super sweet and cuddly. He just adds to the whole “home” feeling of the place. Excellent location (5 minutes walk from bus station, 2 minutes from center), excellent value for money, and one of the most welcoming hosts I’ve met on my trip. They also offer tours, bicycle rents and other trips. Just ask :) I absolutely loved my stay and would come back anytime!

The location is good, a few minutes walk from the bus station, the square and shops/restaurants. The rooftop was okay.

The 7 is because of great staff, I'd give it a 5 otherwise. They gave us great advice on our travel plans and what to see in the area - if you have currency from your home country, the man who runs the place collects this and will be very happy to add your country to his collection.

The family hosting is wonderful, all of them very nice. It felt like home. They helped me to organise my trips. Central location, close to main attractions and public transport. Excellent breakfast included. Good value for money. I definitely would repeat.

“Owner refused to uphold his own quiet hours rule !”

I liked my first night and booked some more nights that I had to cancel. The owner, a very nice man, was not supportive of his own rule for quiet time after 10 pm. A group of 4 girls were being very noisy and talking loudly in the room next to me. I asked them to be a little mindful but they didn't care. Unfortunately by 11 pm I asked the owner to speak to them and he didn't want to! He eventually did, yet stood by and watched them shout at me and call me names when I asked them to simply follow the owners own rules. He asked me to move rooms. Eventually the girls changed and were openly laughing, noisy and just unpleasant about it. I felt so uncomfortable. I left the next morning as the owner hadn't supported me in any way and I felt very upset and anxious at such a harsh out numbered attack. I didn't feel safe and was concerned I was going to run into them again.

The history was great! He really made it feel like home.

Staff was super friendly, recommended attractions, offered tours and gave me advice about the area. The breakfast was beautiful, cosy environment and local goods. Would definitely recommend for the value! The view from my (single) room was stunning and the location is ideal for a short walk to the centre with plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants around.

I loved this Hostal. The family who runs it is amazing and makes you feel like home. The rooms are very comfortable and you can easily organize tours directly with them. It is very close to the center of banos but the location is nice and quiet. It has a beautiful rooftop to hang out with a nice view to the mountains. I would definitely recommend staying here.

We didn't sleep well. Bedding to be improved.
