A REST IN THE MIDDLE OF NATURE The Hacienda Guamag Protective Forest and Vegetation is located in the buffer and influence zone of the Sangay National Park, at the beginning of the Llanganates – Sangay Ecological Corridor; in the Ulba parish of the Baños de Agua Santa canton province of Tungurahua. The entrance to the lodging of the Forest and Vegetation Protector Hacienda Guamag is by our tarabita that crosses over the Pastaza River 6 km from Baños via the Puyo and entrance to the Amazon, on the route to the waterfalls, a few minutes from the waterfalls the Mantle of the Bride and Pailón del Diablo. The rooms are equipped with: Directv, toiletries, hairdryer, private bathroom with shower, wifi connection and a beautiful view of nature. In Bosque y Vegetación Protector Hacienda Guamag we offer: Restaurant, sport fishing, hiking trails, natural viewpoints, sports fields, suspension bridge, camping area, free parking, etc. The vegetation cover of the Forest and Protective Vegetation Hacienda Guamag corresponds to the low and central montane Evergreen Forest ecosystem of the eastern cordillera of the Andes between 1,200 and 2,000 meters above sea level. Where we find primary and secondary forest such as: mandur, alder, guarumo, myrtle, cedar, etc, and shrubs such as ferns, heliconias, begonias, anthuriums, orchids, etc. Hacienda Guamag became the first Protective Forest that includes criteria and mechanisms for the protection of the water resource, according to the publication of Ministerial Agreement No. 2021-28 of the Ministry of the Environment, Water and Ecological Transition in the Official Register No. 527 of August 31, 2021.

“Our stay at the Hacienda Guamag was both relaxing and adventurous (e.g. walking the Smugglers’ Path), only to be topped”
The location is truly extraordinary. The hacienda is located next to a nature reserve amidst beautiful vegetation and impressive landscape. The hacienda can only be reached with a tarabita, a cable car crossing a canyon with spectacular views onto a waterfall. The hosts went out of their way to make our stay special. They also prepared local food, including the trouts that we could fish in a pond right next to the restaurant.

“calm and beautiful place in nature”
Hacienda Guamag is set in a calm and beautiful place that has no road access and can be reached by tarabita. by crossing the gorge with a beautiful view over the waterfall you leave hassle behind and enter beautiful place run by a super host Marcelo and his family. We traveled with two kids and they loved everything about the place - tarabita ride, trout pond to fish own dinner, swing under the tree. The room was also very nice with two big comfortable beds. excellent stay! highly recommended.

I’ve stayed at the hotel 3 times in the last 4 months, once with friends, second time with my wife and now with my daughter. The location is perfect if coming or going to Amazon. The hotel is quiet, clean and comfortable. I always have the local trout for dinner
