This hotel is located in a piece of paradise. Perfectly situated by the train tracks, in a tea plantation and amidst lush nature. The owners, father and son, are very professional and committed to their customers. They really want to arrange everything for you, such as our train journey or a tour. They also give good advice about traveling in Sri Lanka. Lovely people.

“A must stop in a natural environment to relax and unwind!!”

We loved everything about this property. After the business of the cities our stay at Train View Chalet was a much needed retreat for 2 nights. Quite and tranquil, we felt like we were in the midst of the forest. You can tell immediately the respect & care the team have for animals and local environment. They even have their own native bee hives!!! Eranda and his staff could not have been more helpful. We chose to have dinner here both nights instead of venturing out and glad we did. The food was delicious, we chose local cuisine but there are also many options for western food as well. Eranda also helped with transport from our previous hotel, and to our next & arranged a couple of stops to tourist attractions along the way. One of the highlights was the Jeep ride to Lipton's Seat. Just incredible.if you are not staying at the Chalet you can still book tours with them. We could not recommend Train View more highly. Thankyou Eranda

“Unique property with stunning views”

A unique property in a beautiful valley. We stayed 2 nights in one of the glamping tents and it was so comfortable. A terrace each side with seating to look into the valley or watch the train pass slowly by. No trains at night. The staff are really attentive and the setting is fabulous. Even a great shower in the tent. Loved the man made weir to have a swim.

Nice place nestled in the green with train view. The rooms with a small balcony are nicely decorated and the food is delicious. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The owner knows the area inside out and suggests excellent activities. He made our stay great

“Excellent location and accommodation to experience all activities in central Sri Lanka”

Wish we had booked for more than one night. In hindsight we should have stayed for at least two nights and contacted the hotel in advance to book activities. We travelling with children from 5 years and up. The food was fantastic compared to other 5 star establishments we had previously stayed at. The personal care and attention was excellent. We ended up going on the train line which was still running, which we didn’t expect to be so easy, however the owner of the chalet was so helpful and enabled us to take the train, booking a car and transfer the other end of the line onto Kandy. Unlike other places we felt we paid the right local prices with the support of the team at Train View Chalet. If you contact the hotel in advance they can help with your entire adventure. It’s good to plan ahead to avoid disappointment.

We have spent two weeks travelling around Sri Lanka, staying in 5 star hotels. The service at Train View Chalet was far better than any of the other hotels. The hotel owner and all of his staff were very attentive and polite. We booked half board and the food was great. We only stayed for one night and it wasn't long enough to experience all the hotel and the area has to offer.

Beautiful views and location, the staff was extremely friendly and courteous. The rooms were exceptionally clean and the rustic vibe was lovely. What stood out for us was how attentive and helpful the staff was, verry communicative. Fantastic experience!

Not the cheapest option around, so it comes down to the value you get. Location is great, set on a slope surrounded by dense forest (including giant fruit bats) and the iconic railway on top. You are warmly welcomed in fluent English. The rooms are well decorated and have a perfect (hot) shower. The menu is very good and affordable. The resort has 2 safari jeeps, opening several extra service options that look to be pretty unique, like drives up to Ella Rock or Lipton´'s seat. So, depending on what you look for, this might just be the perfect option in the wide area.

“Wonderful Stay in a Peaceful Location”

The accommodation was situated in a peaceful area, approximately a 30-minute drive from Ella, making it an ideal spot for exploring the region and relaxing away from the hustle and bustle. The food was amazing (both breakfast and dinner), with a nice variety offered throughout the stay. The owner was friendly and helpful, and able to assist with organising tours and activities, including cooking classes. Overall, a very pleasant and comfortable place to stay. Would highly recommend!

This place is so nice, quiet, spacious, comfy, and clean. The food was delicious, and the service was excellent. The staff were very welcoming and caring, making us feel right at home. We especially loved the beautiful natural pool and the friendly pets like rabbits, all kept in a clean and well-maintained environment. It truly added to the charm of the stay. We hope to stay here again in the future

We had a fantastic stay! The location is excellent, with close proximity to the main attractions of the region.. The sight of women picking tea leaves amidst lush tropical vegetation and possibility to see the train was truly enchanting. The food was delicious, and the service was outstanding. The value for money is great, making it a perfect base for exploring the area. We only wish we could have stayed longer.
