“Hidden gem of a lakeside forest retreat with an excellent breakfast for a restful night”

We stayed in Room #4 with a sweet little outdoor balcony facing the sunset over the lake. The Room was very updated decor, exceptionally clean, quiet and super comfortable firm king size bed. Everything was perfect for a restful evening after exploring the trails and parks near Bancroft. Breakfast was delicious and made to order by Mike who is amazing.

Breakfast is buffet like which contains eggs, bread, potatoes, muffins, coffee etc.

We came across this property while google searching for accommodation when planning to visit Algonquin Provincial Park. On arrival we were greeted by Mike the Manager/Owner of the property who warmly welcomed us, even adding a pinch of a dry sense of humour. The twin cabin was very nicely appointed, clean and modern with very comfortable beds and facilities. We loved it so much we decided to extend our stay and Mike was only too happy to oblige, even though he had to shuffle things around on his already busy schedule with a full house. We had the most delicious food in the dining area that looks out over the lake and we were fortunate enough to meet Carla who not only went out of her way by going that extra mile, but she also provided the in house entertainment for us. She had us in stitches. Mike provided a fire pit on the lake, each night, for all guests and it was absolute heaven at the end of the day. Just sitting around, engaging and learning about the local area, with the stars as a back drop was next level peace and tranquility. We ended up staying in two different styles of accommodation, one being a twin cabin and the other being a king room which has beautiful views of the lake from the balcony. We can’t wait to go back to visit Somerset Lakeside Resort again in the not too distant future.

Most beautiful & comfortable place right at the lake. Very clean, best stop coming from Algonquin ever! The restaurant was great too.

“Wonderful stay in a beautiful surrounding!”

The surrounding is beautiful and just in front of the lake. We were a family of 4 and the room was very comfortable, spacious and clean. Everything was great and I'll be happy to stay again!

“Nice and peaceful”

We stayed in a motel room but wished we booked a cottage. Room was large and clean but the cottages are right on the water. We sat on the dock most of the visit. At one point the manager started a bon fire. It was perfect. Hopefully will stay there again, but in a cottage?

It is just in front of a lake so you can do canoe or kayak. It's a very quiet area so it is great if you want to relax.

It was such a great stay. The Hotel is cute and modern and the people were so friendly. We loved it and like to come back some day. We had to leave after one night. We didn‘t even leave the hotel, just enjoyed the nice view and nature there.

Our Rooms had been nicely fitted out. The deck below on the lake was nice and we did swim and use the two canoes which was a nice treat.
