“An exceptional stay in a beautiful place with beautiful people.”

This is a beautiful relaxed hostel in the middle of nature. The stuff is super friendly and the food is good! Every day a lot of great activities are offered like morning yoga, breath work sessions or cacao ceremonies. Moreover there is pizza night twice a week with a great fire show. The place is based on a permaculture farm and the freshly cooked food comes from the farm. The equipment is basic with compost toilets but this is what makes your experience different. So if you look for something special and would like to feel like living in the jungle this is your place!

It's an incredible place!! immersed in nature, a whole Creative Village full of great vibes 🌈🎉 (pizza party, open mics, jam session, and activities all day long!). Not just a hostel, but a wonderful community :) and the structures are soo beautiful too, all built with natural materials in the traditional way! don't miss it out 🤗

It’s a nice place with a great atmosphere in the restaurant. Since there’s no guest kitchen, you do have to eat on-site or head out, though the food is delicious but a bit pricey. We rented a local scooter for $15 USD for the day, which was a fair price and worked out well for exploring.

Probably not my type of hostel, you have to walk up a super long way from the road, difficult when it’s dark, bed are in open huts so nothing closed. The bathroom smelled really really bad.

“Lovely place if you're not looking to party”

El Zopilote has a very clear vision, and executes on it with integrity. It's a beautiful place if you allow yourself to be interested in the offerings, and the space itself. There are plenty of animals and bugs around, and being a permaculture farm, not everything is super aesthetic, as function is more important than form.

Beautiful property where you really feel like you’re in nature. Staff and volunteers are very friendly and helpful. We had a private cabin, which felt nice and quiet and secluded (except on pizza night!) and enjoyed many of the daily activities. I would highly recommend the permaculture tour, which teaches you more about the property and some of the things they grow there. There are a number of really nice cafes and restaurants nearby as well, as well as a nice beach. The hostel is generally quiet and chilled and has a friendly, sociable atmosphere. Yes it’s a bit of a walk uphill to get to, and there are creatures around, but they’re very upfront about that and it’s part of the experience. We ended up extending our stay at Zopilote, and might have stayed longer but we honestly couldn’t face another pizza night!

I loved Zopilote, Iiving in nature and living simply 🌼 The staff are kind, the workshops are incredible, its q special place!

Tucked away in the jungle with lots of nice places to relax. A lot of activities you can do, like yoga, pizza night, etc.

I liked the eco ethos and the location made it easy to hike up Maderas. Also close to a great Mediterranean restaurant. I liked the daily free activities

“Coexist with nature in this unique natural space”

Unique place that has yoga and workshops and a permaculture farm to table restaurant- definitely an experience! I really enjoyed the people and the offerings and would visit again however staying here was a bit challenging for me as there were many scary creatures in my room including scorpion, giant spiders and a bat. If you don’t mind this or can handle it with grace - then you will love it! Zopilote is definitely a special place. The staff was very nice and the food as well.

Loved all the activities and workshops, i got the chance to do things I didn't expect. The staff and volunteers are open, helpful and participate immensely in creating a space that lifts everybody up, there's an unexplainable energy that shows in all the projects they try and share with everybody. The space was phenomenal, always discovering new areas of the grounds. The food was so good with mostly vegetarian meals but also meet if you want. I usually don't stay in hostels but was hard to leave and explore the rest of the island. The rooms are standard but you know what to expect when they put so much effort into all the workshops food and open spaces
