It was incredibly clean, the bed very comfortable, and the host family was very welcoming. So, in terms of value for money, it was the best night I had on my entire Sri Lanka trip. Highly recommended.

Piumi and the host family were very welcoming and treated us like family from the moment we arrived. They helped us call tuktuks, allowed us to use their iron and looked to help whenever possible. The breakfast/lunches were tasty and very generous in the amounts of food. We had fun playing games with the young boy. The room - aircon worked great, bed was comfortable and there was hot water (which is not always the case in Sri Lanka). Only downside would be presence of mosquito's. A short walk to Oru Wella and a peaceful beach, as well as to Cargills supermarket and ATM.

Very homely family!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay with this warm and welcoming family. From the moment we arrived, we felt at home thanks to their kindness and engaging conversations. The accommodation was spotless, comfortable, and surrounded by a beautiful garden. The beach is just a 5-minute walk away, making it the perfect location for a relaxing getaway. The dinner was a real highlight – especially the lentil dal, which was the best we’ve ever had! They also offer cooking classes, which we sadly didn’t have time to join, but given the quality of the food and the owners’ warmth, we are sure they must be amazing. We would happily come back anytime and can wholeheartedly recommend this homestay to anyone looking for a special experience.

Great experience, our homestay family was so nice and caring! We really felt at home ! The location is great too, there is a beautiful beach nearby. They cooked delicious food too. We are sad that we could not extend our stay with them!

“Avoid this place & area”

Nothing, especially the 3yr old screaming boy who threw tantrums morning, noon & night and disturbed my sleep & rest. I had to stay away to avoid the noise,

Piumi and her family were super nice and helped with everything. The room was great, the beach was less than 5 minutes away and the food, which was home cooked, was fantastic. We had a great stay.

There is peacefull, only sounds of forest hearable and a few minutes walk to the empty beech. Owners are helpfull and charming.

We had a great stay at this place. The family was super nice, they prepared a very good breakfast and dinner for us. The accomodation is very clean and comfortable, with AC. Its close to beautiful beaches that are not turisty at all. Would stay here again.

I loved every single bit of it! The family, the food, my room, the nature around! It was the best place to relax and regain some new energy after a lot of traveling through Sri Lanka! I would recommend it to anyone who needs some peace and quiet, amazing food and a loving family! :)

I really enjoyed my stay at the Sweet Pea Homestay. Piumi did her best to make my stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. Many times she and her family offered me some snacks, meal or tea/coffee. At the end of the stay they picked me up at the bus stop, they were incredibly sweet! My room was good - there was a comfortable bed, a desk which was important for me to work, WiFi, and a fan. The location was really good - maybe 7 mins from the main bus stop, but located in a quiet area, close to the beach. Piumi was always there to help me when I needed any help or had any questions. She also let me use her laundry! I really enjoyed my stay there and I highly recommend you to visit Sweet Pea Homestay

“Our favourite homestay in Sri Lanka”

Staying at Sweet Pea Homestay was the perfect way to end our trip in Sri Lanka. Piumi and her family are so welcoming, you really feel at home instantly. The accommodation is immaculate, and breakfast and dinner here were among the best meals we've eaten in Sri Lanka, with new dishes we'd never tried before. The setting is wonderful as well, only a few minutes walk to empty swimmable beaches (the best we've seen in Sri Lanka), meeting friendly neighbours along the way. Or you can simply sit on the balcony and watch the purple faced langurs swinging from the trees. Like many guests before us, we wish we had come to Balapitiya sooner and stayed longer. Highly recommend this homestay!
