Our apartment was spacious and super clean. We had all necessary appliances available, including washing machine and dish washer. The facility offers pool and private parking.

We stayed in the upstairs apartment. Everything was excellent. Bright, clean, big, nicely decorated, comforable furniture and a lovely private terrace downstairs. The house is in a very quiet location, surrounded by vineyards and nature. Only a 15 minute walk from the sea. Very kind and helpful owners. Upon arrival there were coffee pods, tea, biscuits, milk, water, toiletpaper and a few other things, which felt very welcoming. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would certainly recommend this venue.

Brief: This property consists of two apartments: a 2-bedroom (upstairs) and a 3-bedroom (downstairs, on the ground floor). The reviews you see here from previous guests can be for either apartment. The 2-bedroom provides a perfect experience (except for those with mobility issues who might find the stairs challenging). The 3-bedroom is unfortunately compromised due to noise relating to intrinsic issues with the building. We stayed in the 3-bedroom apartment for a week. Based on our stay and on others’ reviews, we would gladly return - but only to the 2-bedroom apartment. We would avoid the 3-bedroom one unless these issues are addressed. Pros Location (general): Bakio is a small seaside town which has its own humid microclimate. The property is situated where the edge of Bakio meets the countryside. It is only 30 minutes by car to central Bilbao, making it a perfect base for a holiday that can include multiple trips to the city but would also allow for relaxation in an unhurried, rural atmosphere. Bakio’s beach in mid-June was clean and sandy but not busy; it is famous for its surfing schools but the waves are not daunting for swimmers. The town is a two-hour hike away from the world-renowned San Gaztelugatze. Physically, the town itself, with its multi-storey blocks of flats lining the seafront, did not impress at first look. But it grows on you as you get to know it, with some good restaurants (our favourite was La Baskula) and plenty of life. Location (particular): The apartments are part of a larger farmhouse building situated in beautiful rural surroundings. The Donniene Gorrondona winery/vineyard (which provides tours) backs onto it to the west. To the east of it is the nature reserve that separates Bakio from San Gaztelugatze and the fishing town of Bermeo beyond. All around are sheep, a few safely restrained dogs, and even wild boar. And yet it is a mere 10 minutes’ walk into Bakio and a three-minute drive to a reasonably-sized Eroski supermarket.

The hosts also drove out to Bilbao in the middle of the night to rescue us when we were stuck in the city with no way to return to Bakio as public transport and taxis had stopped for the night. Beautiful outside area, very quiet…. Sat outside in the morning drinking coffee and listening to the birds, sheep and occasional donkey! Inside was lovely, spotlessly clean, had everything you needed, beds very comfortable and our hosts were particularly lovely! A great Sandy beach with a short car ride .. with some good waves for surfing while we were there!

The location was very quiet as it was the last house at the end of a road. The garden area was very well thought out to give privacy and comfort. The owners were friendly and approachable.

Beautiful apartment in gorgeous quiet setting. 15 mins walk into Bakio which has a few bars etc. but otherwise feels very rural. Cute donkeys in the field opposite. Wish the weather had been nicer so we could enjoy the pool and beautiful garden more! Parking very easy on site. Beds incredibly comfortable, lovely bathrooms with soft luxurious towels, kitchen well-equipped and with a range of coffee and tea options.

“Great place, would absolutely go back”

Both apartments were comfortable and well equipped. The property is beautiful. The hosts were very friendly and available if needed. The neighbourhood is exactly what I was looking for - far enough to be super quiet, but only a short walk from the beach and a 30 mins drive from Bilbao if you want city life.

We had an amazing time at this unique holiday home! The apartment is beautifully decorated with a lot of care and attention to detail. It has a very well-equipped kitchen, the beds are comfy, and the bathroom is modern and super clean. The garden is gorgeous, with lots of outdoor space and a big pool surrounded by lounge beds. It’s even better than the pictures! Our daughter and dog loved it, and it felt like a true home away from home. The location is perfect—just outside the village but an easy casual walk to the beach. We didn’t know Bakio before, but we loved its vibe. The surf school recommended by the host was a fantastic find and a highlight of our trip. The hosts were great and made sure everything was perfect for our stay. The small touches around the house made it feel really personal and welcoming. We almost didn’t want to leave :)

Absolutely amazing apartment, super clean and very well equipped. The details give you a 5* feeling. Everything feels new and of high quality. You wake up with view on lush green fields with donkeys and sheep, super quiet and lovely. The owner lady was very lovely too, have us tips where to hike etc
