Total peace and tranquility; alive with beautiful birds and wild animals; very personally run - the owner and his wife and family are always on hand; lovely and very helpful staff; so very relaxing; many well organised activities like horse riding, walking; vehicular safaris; freshly prepared, varied and tasty food; delightfully remote location. The superlatives go on and on.

You are waken up by tge sound of birds to a delicious breakfast and then of to one of their tours with knowledgeable guides who are experts in sporting the animals and who gratefully share they're knowled of pantanal with you. Overall this was a lovely place and exploring the wetlands is wonderful. Comfortable rooms, fun tours, lots of exotic animals roaming around, great food (including good vegetarian options and lots of salads), friendly staff and the woman on the bar makes the most delicious caipirinhas!

The place is magical. Very friendly staff, amazing food, great pool area, and the bed was so comfortable. We booked a private English guide because all the trips are done with people that work for the pousada and they don't speak English.

incredible location. went to see anteaters and saw 5 in my last 24 hours, including 3 that I got to spend lots of time with on foot and only a couple of meters away

“Wonderful relaxing stay”

We had a wonderful time at the Pousada, we stayed for 3 days and got to do all the tours they offer. The food served was each time different and very delicious. In between the tours we were able to relax by the pool and over all just had a great, relaxing stay.

“wonderful place!”

beautiful area surrounded by animals (birds, Amarillo, horses…). the activities planned everyday are a great way to discover the fauna and flora. typically, there is one activity at 7:00 am for 2 hours and a second one at 4:00 pm. Pool area very enjoyable. very nice people managing and working at the Pousada. 2 nights on site is a must.

“The most amazing place I’ve ever stayed.”

This is the most amazing place I have ever stayed. The location is absolutely astounding with so much wildlife to see in the hotel grounds. The excursions are well organised and very personal (we were pretty the only people on all of our trips). The guides really make an effort to show you the best of the Pantanal and all of the animals. The hotel facilities are also fantastic. The pool is very nice and well maintained. The rooms are luxuriously appointed and the bed was one of the most comfortable I’ve ever slept on. The food in the hotel was delicious at breakfast, lunch and dinner - real home cooked Brazilian food. We liked the self serve bar concept too, it made things more relaxed. Finally, the staff are the key highlight. The woman on front reception spoke impeccable English and was so helpful and kind (including sorting our transfers). Then staff serving food were so friendly and made us laugh watching them play with the armadillos. The tour guides were relaxed, friendly and informative and really made the trips special. I can’t recommend this place enough.

Our stay at Pousada Aguape was exceptional. They arranged a transfer from Campo Grande bus station to the property and upon arrival we were immediately greeted by Hyacinth Macaws, Blue-and-Yellow Macaws, several other parrot species and dozens of ibis and armadillos. The property is alive with wildlife! The staff welcomed us and showed us to our basic but beautiful room. All of the food was delicious - the catering team really know what they are doing! And, although we stayed for five days the food was always varied and different. Excursions were well organised and very enjoyable. We were there with the aim of observing and photographing wildlife so requested to be on as many safaris as possible rather than some of the other activities available (horse riding etc.). This request was no trouble for them and they happily modified their schedule to give us exactly the experience we wanted. Because of our long stay they also gave us two night safaris included in the price. We also arranged a couple of additional private excursions for bird watching and a night safari - both of which were very reasonably priced. The quality of guiding was good - in particular Fabiano, who we went out with privately, was exceptional, despite speaking limited English he communicated almost perfectly and seemed to have an almost supernatural skill at spotting wildlife (coming from an experienced professional field ecologist!). During our trips we saw countless Capybara and Caiman, seven Giant Anteaters, a Tamandua, two Tapir, deer, Capuchin and Howler monkeys, foxes, coati and even am Ocelot! Pousada Aguape was one of the best wildlife experiences I've ever had. The price is exceptionally reasonable for the Pantanal too. I highly recommend a visit!

“Comfortable and cozy place”

You can see many animals just inside the pousada, The environment is great, food is good, guides are all warm heart, very nice experience.

Like living in a nature reserve! Our stay at the Pousada Aguape was marvelous. Upon arrival, you’re immersed in the wild with Araras and Toucans flying above, armadillos scuttling along the ground and Capibaras basking in the sun. Each day features two tours that have you riding on horseback through the wetland forest, kayaking with Caymans or fishing Piranhas from a lake. The excursions are well organized yet never feel overly touristic. The food is fantastic and the rich, wholesome cooking make you feel like a Brazilian mom is preparing your favorite dishes. The staff is most kind and helpful, the rooms are spacious and clean. Only advice: bring long, light clothes and mosquito spray - in certain areas they’ll eat you alive. Overall, we can wholeheartedly recommend this experience here!

loved this place! staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. they will try to enable you to do any activity possible, we went out at 4.30am in a car safari as we were so keen to see a giant anteater (wish came true!) the macaws and armadillos are incredible and are based around the farm, you can see them while eating dinner! food was delicious and included free. drinks were reasonably priced. room was cooled via air conditioning and comfortable. we had frogs in the bathroom in the evening. I enjoyed them, my girlfriend did not! but they're small and cute as far as I'm concerned. strongly strongly recommend this place. no jaguar sittings but they do happen a few times per month. giant otters are rare but we did see a couple while kayaking!

“Fantastic stay at the Southern Pantanal”

Very nice place with amazing birdlife all day long. At night even a grab-eating fox showed up. Staff is very lovely, food plenty and good. The nature around the Pousada is full of wonders. The activities are diverse and they schedule them for you and they take place in groups. If you want to be more flexible you can also book private tours for a reasonable price, what we did for the last 5 days. For us as photographers perfect. And everybody who doesn't speak Portuguese should hire a bilingual guide in advance.
