“Host told me to cancel 3 hrs before check in”

Host informed me 3 hrs before check in that he cannot accommodate me and my family, and only after i msg him asking how to get the keys. How would you feel hearing that after travelling 5 hrs with 2 young kids? At the beginning I asked why the location is Bagan Jarmal and he replied saying it's in tanjung tokong. I asked a follow up as Google was showing me it was in Butterworth and i could sense the irritation from him, telling me he's already written the location and that it is the correct location. He asked me to cancel if it was the wrong one. I did not cancel because he clarified it was the RIGHT LOCATION. Tried to blame me on the day of check in by saying i should have cancelled or replied to him. If a customer does not cancel, he does not wish to cancel. How hard is it to understand that as someone who's a host??? In addition, i had requested for early check in 3 days prior to the check in day and he rejected it and replied that there normally are guests the day before. So it was very clear that he knew i intended to come check in but for whatever reason decided not to inform me that he cannot accommodate until the check in day. Also be very careful with this host for cancellation. He made it seem like he was helpful to sort out the cancellation but i feel that he is gaming the booking system. He should have cancelled on his side rather than ask me to cancel it on my side as now it appears on the system that i cancelled at the last minute on him instead of the other way round. More importantly, BEWARE of the button for "request for free cancellation". It brought me to another page with a smaller text saying cancellation fee which was almost the cost of the accommodation. Instead you should click the button "cancel with fee" as mine came up with zero fee. You CANNOT change this even via customer service or the host. I wonder where this sneaky trick came from.....

My favourite was the host, Cody. Although we never met or spoke, messages and videos from WhatsApp were sent to me on how to collect the keys, as it can be quite difficult to collect the keys without the video. Our toilet was broken, and Cody had maintenance come the next day to fix it. Cody was incredible. Other good things about the property: - balcony with a view - laundry - close to bars, shopping - only 7km from city centre - laundry to do your own washing - two showers and toilets

They were extremely accommodating and allowed us to check in early at like 2pm. We got to aprtmnt super early and I didn’t wanna wait. So this was a big plus. The sevice was exceptional as well.The apartment was wonderful. It was even better than expected. The price was amazing.

The unit is very good with the gorgeous view of the dock. Very convenient as the grocery stores and there are lots of entertainment close by too. All the utilities in the room are top tier. Very suitable for anyone who wants to avoid crowds as this is a low density unit.

The view from the balcony is fabulous. AC system works so effectively. Nice airfryer. The washing machine and supply of soap powder was so useful. Nice big TV and Netflix was available. The security guards were so kind and helpful. Beautiful swimming pool. The complex is immaculate. It was peaceful. The bars and restaurants are nearby which is convenient, it does get loud at night with live music, but it's not unbearable.

Very good overall, the place is very clean and the hosts are very friendly and have good communication with all the details information on all the facilities of the homestay

“Disastrous kitchen”

The kitchen was disastrous. It lacked everything, knives, water glasses, wine glasses, salad bowls, and proper cooking pots. Just some cups and a single casserole. It's a shame that booking.com features a property like that. It's impossible to have breakfast or a proper meal. No house manual. The owner said that it's not possible to bring some other equipment for cooking. Luckily, we had a toaster, at least.
