The location right in the lagoon and the yard was absolutely beautiful. My husband and I spent so much time on the dock and under the fruit tree in the yard. I would spend my mornings bird watching in the yard. Saw 2 species of toucan and was at peace. The location was close enough to town that you can walk. Takes about 20 minutes to get central on the road near the lagoon. A dream !

The location is amazing! Being on the edge of the lagoon, being able to watch the sunrise and sunset from the private pier is so great 🌅 The staff are attentive and the 2 dogs are very sweet and friendly - it’s pet-friendly which is great as we take our dog everywhere 🐕

The location is beautiful and there are many sweet creative touches to the property. Overall it feels a bit tired and in need of renovations. I appreciated the spacious room with kitchenette and balcony, view towards the lake. Only four units on the property, and owner and other staff use the property as well. Very comfortable large bed, airconditioning and fans working well. Very nice property with small pool and various sitting areas, as well as palapa on the lake. Some creative touches and lovely mural by the lake. Kayaks available for use (free) are a bonus. Appreciated the water refill station. Staff was friendly and responsive. Overall, it was a good stay (6 days). I think if everything that needs fixing gets fixed it will be excellent - as long as you're okay with being a bit further out of town. There are two roads into town - the busy highway and a very rough dirt along the lake properties. It’s a bit of a walk and a bicycle or other transport is a good idea, especially at night. Bring bicycle lights/flashlights. Laguna Bacalar is beautiful and the town has a lot to offer. Villas Karalv offers accommodation at a fair price.

What went well? Nothing, unfortunately. We were told the host would be there between 3 and 5pm to let us in. They were not. We arrived at 3.30pm and were told they'd be back at 5-6pm. Not acceptable.

It was a very good experience, as the room is much better than expected, with lots of facilities, large, silent, it seems like a complete AirBnb apartment. On the top of it, the owners, Sergio and Mirta, were extremely kind and made all possible effort to look for all our demands, they are really friendly. The external area is nice, great view from the lagoon, nice large pool.

We loved the access to the lake, the option to use kayaks for free, the place was calm, the owners kind, we could park our car there without any issues. The room was quite large, but really the best part was the lake access. We can recommend the place if you have a car, don't mind not being in the center (we just drove to dinner) and a priority is to enjoy the lake, we had it almost for ourselves most of the time, really enjoyable.

Location is amazing. Right on the water and a lot of areas to sit and enjoy the view. The building and gardens are beautiful. Short drive to town. Small kitchen with electric stove and fridge. Warm shower. TV with Spanish channels.
