“Good option close to everything”

The bed was very comfortable, soft bedding. The shower had pressure with plenty of hot water. The hammock area is enjoyable and the fruit trees are gorgeous. The communal kitchen is a nice feature. Close to the center yet very quiet. I slept so well at Casa Umay. Awesome restaurant attached to the small hotel and they offered a welcome drink.

“Fab”

We only stayed one night as a stop over at Casa Umay on our way to Belize but it was great. We loved how central it was & close to everything. Santiago met us and was really welcoming and friendly . The room was large, airy and nicely furnished . Bed was super comfy too. There was a shared kitchen which we found really handy for making stuff to take with us the next day. Would def recommend as a great and welcoming stay.

We had an amazing stay at Casa Umay. Santiago and his family were very kind and welcoming. Perfect location, beautiful garden and nice outside kitchen. The beds were amazing! Would totally recommend, we really liked our stay!

We really liked the location, the helpful staff, and the kitchen. The pool was small but perfect for our 4-year-old, as he could stand everywhere in the pool. We also appreciated the free welcome drink. Room cleaning preferences could easily be indicated by hanging a sign on the door handle. Although laundry service is normally not offered, an exception was kindly made for us, thank you, Santiago! (We stayed in rooms 1, 2, and 4.)

The location was very central. Although some noise from a close bar were a bit annoying.

It was perfect. I won't list all the positives because there are too many.

We stayed 2 nights, the location is very good, in the center but quiet. Parking on the road. Lovely green garden. Communal outdoor kitchen- just be aware, somebody took our beer. Nice basic rooms.

Great location, just two blocks away from the city centre. The host was very friendly and helpful. Kitchen outside with all the amenities you need. Spacious rooms and nice hot shower. Would definitely come back!

Santiago was a great host, helpful and nice! The facility is lovely, well maintained, we used the garden and the communal kitchen, also perfect for socializing. It is a short walk from the central square, but to find the best restaurant you don't have to go out, in fact there is a restaurant on the property in which we had the best dinner of the vacation

Santiago was extremely helpful, warm, and accommodating - we felt very at home. The room had a big comfortable bed and was decorated very nicely, plus there is use of a communal kitchen with free water. The location is amazing and in a beautiful setting.

You enter through this cool restaurant and it’s like the inner courtyard of it. Great value for money!

The camaderie with other guests in the outdoor kitchen area, the two hamacs hung near our room, the comfy king bed, the location two block from the zócalo.

“So many things to like but the smell was bad...”

The accommodation is located at the back of a restaurant and It's very close to the Zocalo so perfect for a cheaper stay in Bacalar, but it's at least 30 mins walk from the lagoon clubs. We actually found this worked well for us as we had more choice for food and bars in the evening time. The space felt secure and the outdoor area was really pretty with hammocks and nice to hang out in. The kitchen is well equipped. The towels and bed linen were good but we needed to ask for an extra blanket as the ones provided were too small. There is no reception so all communication is done via Booking or WhatsApp, which wasn't really an issue as they are very responsive.
