Beautiful location on the banks of the Nile. Not far from the public ferry and close to some lovely little restaurants. Very helpful owners: early ferry and assistance with carrying luggage to the ferry. Perfect for anyone wanting to stay on Elephantine

“Quiet, simple guesthouse away from the bustle of Aswan on Elephantine Island”

On the charming and quiet Elephantine island, this guesthouse is a a joy. Owners are so gentle and kind, making us packed lunch for our last day and giving us tips on where to eat in town. Short ferry ride into town (5minute walk to the ferry on a dirt road so don’t bring wheely bags!) Beautiful view over the Botanical gardens at sunset. Rooms simple, Clean, comfortable.

Lovely and quiet place, just next to the river Nile. Marta and Oussama were great hosts. We had a peaceful time at Nubian Lotus on Elephantine island, I strongly recommend.

Staying on Elephantine island was a wonderful experience. We stayed at Nubian Lotus for 4 glorious nights. The island has no cars. Everyone you meet is so friendly and they all know Osama and Marta. The ferries to the mainland are very frequent. Osama and Marta are the best hosts ever. They looked after us beautifully from organising Khaliid to come and pick us up from the airport and then transporting us and our bags in their boat to their own jetty late one evening to organising our various tours- including a trip to Abu Simbel ( very well worth while getting up at 3.30am for as when we arrived at the site there were very few people there- when we left 2 hours later it was heaving). They also organised a driver and Sam, the wonderful Egyptologist guide, to drive us from Aswan to Luxor, stopping off at Kom Ombo, Edfu and Esna en route. Our accommodation was quiet with only the sound of occasional dog barking, sheep baaing and a donkey braying. Added to this, hearing the regular call to prayers from the various mosques on the island and on the mainland simply added to the magic of it all. We loved the food that both Osama and Marta prepared for us both Nubian and Italian ( fantastic coffee Marta!) Our room was beautifully clean and comfortable

What’s not to like ?! Friendly, wonderful hosts. A beautiful, sustainable, quiet guesthouse on Elephantine Island, with gorgeous terraces overlooking the Nile and the Botanical Gardens. The noise and chaos of the city just a memory - and only a 5 minute ferry ride away whenever you need to go. Life floats by on the sounds of boats and birds and children splashing in the water. Yes it’s possible to swim in the Nile there ! A wonderful experience. Everything was perfect and yet the biggest shout out goes to lovely Marta and Osama who are such friendly, gentle, beautiful people. And very reactive with answers to all and any questions I had before and during our stay. Can’t thank them enough. The hibiscus is lovely too, many thanks !

It is a secret gem! If you are coming to Aswan and staying in the city centre you are really unlucky! You must come and see this Nubian island! Mr Osama took us with his own boat and bring to the island, showed us around and told about how can we use public ferry (15egp-2min)

The studio was a perfect fit for our family. The view is stunning—waking up every morning to a view of the Nile was priceless. Elephantine Island is very peaceful, and everyone was extremely friendly. The ferry is easy to reach and runs very frequently. Marta and Ossama were very helpful with everything. I definitely recommend staying there when visiting Aswan!

Probably one of the best spots to stay overnight. It definitely is the better side of Elephantine Island to book accommodation. They have lovely terrace on the waterside and a rooftop terrace. The hosts are very helpful and accommodating!

Wonderfully accommodating hosts in a small guest house. Marta and Osama are happy to cook dinner for you, help organise transfers and help in any way.

The place is just beautiful, Marta was so welcoming and thoughtful, she and her husband Ousama helped us organise visits and gave us the best advice. We felt at home, in such a unique place!

We loved the place! Our hosts were so kind, welcoming and helpful! Thank you very much for everything. You make the best lunch boxes honestly :D It was so nice to stay on Elephantine island. We recommend taking private car+boat transfer provided by hosts if you have big luggage. In general it's very easy to stay on the island, the public ferry is cheap and operate often, the restaurants are good on Elephantine too. Nubian Lotus is not facing the city side so it's calm and quiet, plus you get to see sunsets. There are a lot of animals, cats and a dog, we enjoyed them a lot. The dog Kiki was so exited to see us every day ;D The hotel and the island felt very safe. The room and breakfast were good. We didn't want to leave.

We loved staying here! The guesthouse has everything you need and is well connected to the river banks (to the cornish it's about a 5-min walk straight on and a 3-4 min boat ride). It's best if you come with smallish luggage (backpacks or a carry-on) because the roads on the island are unpaved and there are no vehicles, but if you have bigger bags, a boat can probably be arranged easily. Now, all the big perks. It's fully immersed in the quiet rural life of Elephantine Island, with an amazing view over the river banks and the Botanical Gardens (easy to reach by boat). There is a large rooftop overlooking the Nile where you can have breakfast, dinner and drinks. Marta and Osama are lovely hosts: relaxed, accommodating and helpful, they truly made us feel welcome and at home. They let us get refreshed before catching our evening flight, gave us a good packed breakfast for our early morning trip to Abu Simbel and cooked us a great dinner on their beautiful rooftop. We loved petting and observing their growing cat family and their friendly dog after a hot day exploring outside. We could not have asked for a better stay in Aswan, and we would definitely stay again.

Martha & Osama provided the perfect experience for our two day stay. They are cheerful, kind and went above and beyond to help us when we faced some issues with the next leg of our trip. This little house sits on the west side of Éléphantine island which is a very rural and authentic Nubian place. We wholefully recommend the Nubian Lotus for anyone that wish to experience Aswan under the best conditions! Thank you again Martha and Osama !

Loved the location, ambience, staff, comfortable bed and very clean. More choice for breakfast would have been good. Good restaurants nearby.
