Beautiful colonial style hotel rich in history. If you want something unique and historical that's also comfortable there's no better hotel in Asuncion than the Gran Hotel del Paraguay. I stay here every time I'm in the capital.

Beautiful place with very friendly and helpful staff. My room was very spacious. The best was very comfortable. The buffet breakfast was delicious with lots of variety. The swimming pool was great.

“Uniquely different from other hotels”
Amazing historic hotel with a pool and patios filled with tropical vegetation. Excellent service, well located, if I visit Asuncion again this hotel will be the place I will stay in.

“Disappointingly deteriorated.”
The only reason I am giving five points at all is that the poor impression is limited to the restaurant service, which appears unfriendly, inattentive, and unmotivated. In contrast, the housekeeping staff, reception team, garden team, and bar staff all do an excellent job and provide very commendable service.

“Old colonial hotel with some charm”
It's an old colonial building and it has a charm. Gardens are beautiful. Breakfast is OKish. They have mbeju and eggs and fruits. BUT no plain yogurt (just flavored ones and zero vegetables). And the breakfast room is very unpleasant with super low ceiling (190cm). Would be much better to eat in the garden

This place has some of the best gardens and ambience I’ve seen on a hotel which isn’t super expensive. MUY lindo. Nice bar too

A cool and calm oasis is Ascunsion. I stayed over Xmas, and was surprised how much was available at the Hotel over the period. Some of the staff have very good English. The cleaning staff are a joy. The breakfast was an excellent buffet and there is also a very nice bar and a restaurant. It's in a secure location with 24 hour security.
