“Truly amazing”
A very charming timber house externally and internally. Our room is spacious, clean, very quiet, with large windows overlooking the courtyard. The welcome sweet snacks on our first day was delightful. I was pleasantly surprised that there are different sweet snacks on our second day after we came back from hiking. All the staff are very polite, and one female staff speaks good English. In addition to a nice public onsen, we can book a family onsen for private use (best for 2 people). Dinner was divine. It's actually a feast as we were served dishes after dishes, all are beautifully presented and delicious. We stayed for 2 nights, and none of the dinner dishes was the same. We are so happy about the quality and variety. They use lots of locally grown produce and make their own pickles. I didn't know pickles can be so yummy.

“Perfect choice of accommodation to experience Japanese cultural”
Everything from friendly staffs, welcoming desserts, unbelievably abundant and delicious dinner and breakfast, available shared and private onsen bath to traditional wooden building with very detailed Japanese decoration and tatami beddings. I was told that it’s a family run accommodation. I could see the passion of every staff I met in the reception and restaurant. We didn’t walk out but there’s a Lawson convenient store in few minutes walk. The heater in our room was warm and quiet that we had a wonderful sleep. Everything was perfect and exceeded our expectation.

This ryokan is an absolutely superb place to stay! The hospitality was exceptional and the food was exquisite - each meal was a feast. The place and onsen has a cozy ambience but is kept perfectly clean. I cannot recommend it enough and I hope I will be able to return someday.

“Comfortable rooms, excellent dinner”
Beautiful old building with comfortable rooms, excellent aircon, one slept really well. The meals are very nicely done, we got treated to a horse sashimi. There is a small indoor hot spring, which is nice if not as spectacular as some other options in the area. Cash only (ATM machine is a 7 min walk)

Traditional ryokan if you want to experience authentic Japanese lifestyle and cuisine. Have to lay futons yourself. Dinner was wagyu beef BBQ, they didn’t have fish sashimi and served horsemeat instead (probably due to the Aso mountaineous region), which we didn’t dare to try. Wagyu was very good quality, other dishes were homegrown and healthy, which needs some accustom to. Breakfast was traditional Japanese style which was very good! Private onsens available for booking.

“Lovely ryoken. Would def stay again”
Love the rustic original feel of the old house. Feels like I went back to the past into another time. Also the hostess was amazing host with great English. And the food cooked by her husband was so amazing with the huge variety of local dishes served. Did not have repeats for the 2 nights
