We loved this quirky traditional hotel and onsen. It’s best to get a taxi from the Asahikawa train station which is quite cheap. There is a restaurant at the hotel and the tamami room we had was lovely. The highlight for my 11 year old was definitely the games room full of retro games as well as the lolly shop run on an honour system! Super cool!!

“Family ski holiday”

Like a movie from the 80s, very charming place with onsen, video games and japaneese style breakfast. Nice helpful staff helped to make the stay unforgettable. Highly recommend for everyone looking for authentic japaneese experiene.

Traditional feel, like a big grand.mothers house, and it is big. Rooms are really an authentic experience for an outsider.

The indoor onsen is one of the best I have experienced so far. Staffs are nice and helpful. Room is quite spacious with nice view.

Friendly staff, very welcoming, loved the onsen and the retro vibes. Great games room. Easy and comfortable for myself and 2 kids to move around the venue. Lovely food and staff in the kitchen. Great views. I liked being out of town in the hills.

The hotel is a masterpiece of 1970’s design and chic. It’s style, frozen in time. The staff could not have been more welcoming and helpful. All the staff really ensured that you got what you required. The many hot spring baths were fantastic .. especially the outdoor roof baths with views over to the city. They have gone out of their way to make this hotel as family orientated as possible with play areas, games, activities, and books to read. The food served was good value.

We were not allowed entrance in the onsen for our tattoos, and this in 2025 is unfortunately not acceptable. Not even covered tattoos were accepted, and this really let us down because we had booked this place basically only to use their onsen. The room smelled so badly of tobacco, even though it was a non-smoking room. Shared toilets were basic and impractical. There was no shower in the room, because guests are supposed to use the onsen ones; but if you're denied entrance, you end up not showering at all... Location is poor, in the outskirts of the town.

“Retro experience”

It was very traditional so we had to take off our shoes at the counter when we registered. There were many ppl using the public bath as well and it was usually more crowded at nights than during the day. There were two levels to the onsens and some were smaller than others, some were also outdoor. We loved all the retro stuff with ultraman displays and old game consoles. The arcade area with attached snack/sweet shop was a nice touch. Some games were free to play while some cost 100-200yen per game. The electronic games were only switched on from 5-9pm. There were free bedroom slippers and hair ties etc that we could take near the registration counter. There was a microwave, hot water and laundry area on the second floor. Lots of manga books around, dedicated child play area, table tennis area. Vending machines were great too. Did not manage to explore the restaurant.
