Overview
Matriki Beach Huts provide absolute beachfront accommodation on the sunset side of the island. You can enjoy snorkelling from the beautiful white sand beach right at the front of the property. The property offers 4 unique, rustic, self-contained beach huts, each with their own terrace, simple cooking facilities and an open air shower. They share a toilet facility at the rear of the property. Also available is a garden unit which has its own en suite toilet and shower. There is a shared BBQ and outdoor table setting on the beach. Guests can enjoy various activities including snorkelling, hiking, fishing, and diving. Bicycle and semi automatic scooter hire is available on site. Matriki Beach Huts offers lagoon, water taxi and fishing tours on their 7 metre long boat, for an additional charge. The nearest airport is Aitutaki Airport, 3 km from the property.

“A wonderful adventure.”
I was impressed with this little beach hut. It was much better than camping. I had a wonderful solo adventure living on the beach like Robinson Crusoe. Not for people who need all the creature comforts but I loved it.

The property was awesome hidden in amongst the gardens, created a nice private & peaceful place too stay with access to the beautiful lagoon to swim in. Was able to hire a scooter there too nice way to explore the islands

When we arrived, we were offered a second hut free of charge because I was with my sister, and he thought it might be nice for us to have seperate rooms. We spent our first day using the freely provided paddle-boards on the beautiful lagoon just a couple steps away from our huts. We read that we could rent snorkelling gear for 5$ a day (pp), when we wanted to go pay, he let us use the equipment free of charge. The accommodation provides a small selection of free bicycles to use, they aren't the best quality but they were sufficient for getting us into town and back. There is also a free drinking water tap. On the first day, I suffered pretty severe sunburns, when we asked where we could buy sunburn aftercare like Aloe Vera, he walked into his garden and provided fresh Aloe Vera leaves which helped immensely to reduce the pain. Overall a very good experience, Matthias was very nice and really cared for his guests.

I stayed there for 6 nights. It was perfect. I had this wonderful treehouse. With a little kitchen and a balcony. I love this place, and Matthias has so many good story’s to tell. The Lagoon tour was amazing. Thanks for all

The beach was great. I love the outdoor showers. The beach huts was close to Tava’e. It’s has a bbq area. The cats were friendly. You can use the kayak and the beach has outdoor furniture.

Great host, great spot. Mateus took us out on the lagoon and it was absolutely beautiful. He took us to beautiful islands and amazing snorkeling spots.

“Was a highlight of our trip!”
OK, this may not be for everyone, but we just loved the fresh ocean air wafting through the room, the sound of the waves on the reef, the chickens (even the roosters!), the cats (on the bed!), listening to the rain on the roof, the outdoors shower and the location was totally spectacular! Great value for money, Mateus was a really helpful guy. If you want to stay in a five star resort, ok, this may not be for you...if you want something closer to a a real Cook Islands experience.... book now!

Amazing location under the palms in castaway style huts. Snorkelling and beach life is exceptional. Nearby restaurants are also excellent. The lagoon cruise was the highlight of our visit to the Cook Islands, seeing whales an amazing bonus.

“Hut on the beach, riding bikes around the island, snorkelling with Whales and Eagle Rays.”
Owner picked us up from the airport. Hut steps onto the beach, complimentary bicycles and snorkels. Owner also offers days out on his boat island hopping and snorkelling. Got to swim with Humpback Whales and Spotted Eagle Rays (just to name a couple!). You can get happy hour drinks and dinner at the resorts a few steps down the beach. We got to do everything we wanted in our short stay on Aitutaki. Fantastic stay!

The Beach Hut
The Beach Hut is an absolute beachfront hut with a double-sized futon on foam bed with a mosquito-net and a private deck with lagoon and sea views. It also includes a private open-air shower, cooking facilities and a shared toilet at the back of the property.
The Reef Hut
The Reef Hut is an absolute beachfront hut with a double sized bed with a mosquito-net. The deck has lagoon and sea views looking over the public BBQ area on the beach. It also includes a private open-air shower, cooking facilities and a shared toilet which is located 30 metres back, at the rear of the property.
Upper Tree House - Double Room
The Upper Tree House is located above the Lower Tree House and is accessed via stairs. It has a double size futon on foam bed with a mosquito-net. The private deck has lagoon and sea views through the coconut trees. It has kitchen facilities and the private open air shower is downstairs behind the Lower Tree House. The Upper Treehouse Hut also shares the toilet facility set back on the property.
Garden Unit - Triple Room
This Garden Unit is attached to the main house near the rear of the property, about 40 metres from the beach. It has an en suite shower and toilet, screened by a curtain. There is a queen-size bed and an additional fold down single bed, both with mosquito-nets. It includes kitchen facilities and a private deck facing the hills to the east. There are lagoon and sea views looking over the yard and garden.
Low Tree House - Triple Room
The Lower Tree House is located on the absolute beachfront and has a double-sized bed with mosquito -net and an additional single-sized bed with mosquito-net. The kitchen area is a bit larger than the other huts, with the open air shower out the back and a private porch towards the beach. This hut is the largest and is located below the Upper Tree House. There is access to the shared toilet facility, at the rear of the property.
