Very personal experience, my mom and I really felt at home. The location is beautiful and quiet, in the middle of Avocado and Banana trees while Arusha is still easily reachable within approx 15min by TukTuk. It’s not the typical hotel experience - you‘ll stay in the same house with Hope which naturally is his home and not a hotel but we highly appreciated exactly that. The food was good as well and we had a room with two single beds but he also has another one with a double bed available. Very comfy beds. Would definitely recommend for a more local and authentic experience!

Nowhere else like here, I felt part of a big Tanzanian family even for just a few days: everyone was incredibly welcoming and my stay was absolutely pleasant! Thank you, Arusha holiday safari, I will miss you all!!!

“Superb home stay experience and tour around the Arusha area”

This is an authentic home stay experience and highly recommended. The house is very comfortable. It is set amongst banana and avocado trees, and you can wander down the little paths and find more houses, as part of the local community. Chickens wander around and the neighbours come to visit. Hope is a wonderful host. He cooked us local food and showed us how it was made. He took us to the local pre school, where we donated some books and pencils. We booked through Arusha holiday safaris. Lazaro has been wonderful helping construct a four day itinerary in Arusha and surrounds. Our guide was David who was similarly great. Very accommodating; very knowledgeable about the local area. He took us through markers, to local pubs, a Maasai village etc I cannot recommend them highly enough.

It was so lovely staying with Hope. His home is lovely and he is very welcoming. We met some of his family and explored his village whilst we were there. The location is nice and quiet.

A great stay where Hope, Robert and Isaac really made us feel at home. Robert and Isaac took us on a lovely walk and even challenged us to a few games of pool. Hope is a superb cook and went out of his way to drive us into town and help us sort out our bus tickets. They couldn’t have been lovelier.

Amazing stay with Hope and Lazaro - if you are looking for a real Tanzanian homestay experience then this is the place for you.

We enjoyed our stay at Hope’s House a lot! He was very welcoming and thoughtful, helped us getting around town and looked after us. He is an excellent cook too! We also enjoyed getting in touch with his friends and family who all made us feel welcome. It’s truly a little paradise.

“Lovely taste of Tanzanian family life”

Homestay with Hope in Ilboru near Arusha. Hope welcomed us for a few days into his life and house at the end of a dirt road, between the banana and avocado trees. The bedroom and private bathroom are basic and clean, you can also use the shared living area. We enjoyed meeting his family, eating together and talking. His brother Gift, who was around for the holiday, and his little niece Natalia were so friendly and fun. Hope is such a peaceful person. He cooked lovely vegetarian meals for us and showed us around in his neighborhood. If you want a taste of Tanzanian family life, don’t look any further, this is the place to be! Sometimes the area had to deal with energy cuts, also part of everyday life there.

The staff is very welcoming and friendly. They showed us the village and helped us take the dala-dala when we left. The house is outside the city so it's very peaceful. Also, the food was excellent.
