“Beautiful Beach Bungalows with fantastig stuff - perfect for relaxing days !”

We really enjoyed our stay at Whisky Point Resort. The rooms were clean and very nice. The beach were the resort is located at was lonely and beautiful, a must do is watching the sunrise there. The staff was super friendly and alert. We also liked the food and appreciated the free water they provide. We booked surfing lessons via the hotel which were great too.

If you’re looking for Hilton-level service and attention to detail, but set in a truly wild, natural environment, Whiskey Point is exactly that rare combination. What stands out most is how smoothly everything runs. The team is professional, responsive, and genuinely service-minded. Requests are handled quickly and discreetly, without you having to repeat yourself or explain too much. In practice, it’s simple: you message them on WhatsApp, and whatever you need gets arranged. A major advantage, especially for a remote location like this, is the excellent Wi-Fi. It’s reliable enough to actually work from here, not just “check a message and hope for the best.” And then there’s the setting: a wide, stunning beach, minimal crowds, and real quiet. At night, you also get something that’s surprisingly rare in many beach destinations, darkness and silence for proper sleep, with no unnecessary lights or noise. There are plenty of comfortable spots to lounge and spend the day, and the service follows you there too, food, drinks, or anything else you can think of, brought to you with ease after a quick message.

Nature and cleaning

I originally booked this special place just for a few days, but it turned into more than two weeks. I had no idea how amazing this resort would be, that I’d make real friendships here, and that it would become one of my favorite places so far — I’m already planning to come back soon! I honestly don’t even know where to start, because everything was fantastic — especially the people! The location is calm, safe, and beautifully tucked away, with an endless, almost empty beach that’s perfect for relaxing. At the same time, you can easily walk to a surf point, and with a quick tuk-tuk ride you’re right in the heart of the lively Arugam Bay. The resort organizes different trips, there are movie nights on the beach under the stars, safaris, massages, yoga and surf lessons. The food is super varied and absolutely delicious — especially the pizzas! And the rooms are so cozy that you immediately feel at home. I can’t wait to come back and would recommend this place to anyone traveling to Sri Lanka!

“Fabulous chilled place with so friendly owners & people working there!”

Nicola, the italian owner and Anna are absolutely fabulous. They organized everything like surf lessons, tuk tuk drives to see wild elefants, and all the drivers we had for all our trip - and this for free!! The place is so nice & beautiful. Right on the sea, with open wooden huts and a fabulous italian restaurant. We would come back there and stay longer (we stayed 3 nights). You can even use the pool next to the resort if you want to change after the sea.

Relaxed atmosphere, great food and the staff are very friendly and attentative, great location right on the beach away from the busier Arugam bay but still only 15-20 minutes in on a scooter or tuk tuk. , we really enjoyed our stay, thanks 😊

“Beautifully designed beach resort, calm and friendly”

This place is amazingly beautiful, a true beach resort. The rooms might seem basic at first sight, but we found them really beautiful, the wooden cabins are really thoughtfully designed, simple, but clean and comfy. It is true that we didn't miss AC in April although we had wondered before arriving, there was a bit of wind and we never felt too hot in the rooms, especially the one on the first floor. The restaurant building is beautiful and it was such a delight to sit there, look at the palm trees, have a fresh fruit juice with a view towards the beach, hear the waves... very relaxing. In April there were only a few couples for short stays, so it was very calm during our 5 nights there. The beach huts are amazing, the staff brings you cushions and full service with food and drinks - almost on the beach - that was a real luxury, we thought. Staff were very friendly. Breakfast is amazing with a fresh fruit platter and bread or muesli/fruit or other dishes, best breakfast we had on our whole journey! Fresh, cool water anytime is an excellent service we appreciated very much! About surfing: We were happy to have the surfboard rental organized by Whisky Point a few weeks before our arrival with Sam's Surfshop. The very friendly owner brought the boards to Whisky Point and also picked us up with the boards every day in order to go to Peanut Farm by Tuktuk (with the boards again). Thanks to Sam, excellent service!

Whisky Point Resort is directly by the beach which is perfect to take a quick swim in the ocean at any time. All the staff is amazingly friendly which makes you feel even more comfortable! Besides that, it‘s super calm and relaxing. Perfect if you want to have the experience of a relaxing and comfortable stay! Still, the drive to Arugam Bay only takes 15 minutes. Thanks!!

“Super relaxing vibe. You can completely choose where and with whom to spend your time. Friendly staf”

Wherever you are in the resort, you just send a short message and the friendly staff bring you whatever you want (drinks, towels, breakfast, snacks…anything). It’s not rude. It’s not a favour. It’s how it’s done. The Italian menu has some Sri Lankan staples, but do not miss the Gamberetti (marinated prawns wrapped in bacon……wow!!) and expect the food to cost a little more than on the street. After all, a lot of it is genuine imported Italian ingredients and they’re always delivered to you within a few minutes. Loved the hammocks. Loved the puppies on the beach. Had a refreshingly long swim or two.

From the moment you arrive, you already feel looked after. The entire staff make a great team effort to take care of every little thing, from tailoring special trips to your needs to supplying unlimited drinking water. They were also kind enough to let us check out VERY late (8 p.m.) at no extra charge, which meant one more wonderful day on the beach for us <333 And it’s hard to beat sleeping to the sound of the waves… Whisky Point Resort is the ultimate spot for relaxation and I will definitely be back next time I am in Sri Lanka!

“Relaxing tropical paradise”

You will truly relax here. The property is pretty much spotless and located just meters from the Indian Ocean, which means you can hear the waves ALL NIGHT. The staff is super attentive and thoughtful, from the caretakers to the bartenders to the management. I was also pleasantly surprised to find real Neapolitan pizza, a wide selection of Italian wines, and caffè corretto with Sambuca (!) – just when I started missing European flavors a bit ;) And if that wasn’t enough, the yoga classes first thing in the morning put you in a blissful mood. Would definitely come back <3

“Peaceful, relaxing, great Italian food”

We stayed four nights in an open air cabana. Was lovely sleeping to the sound of the ocean. The beach in front of the resort had pretty big waves while we were there, but great for a refreshing dip at the shore. Overall a very relaxing vibe. Not many other businesses in the area; a sleepy and friendly town. Staff were amicable and attentive, and the food in the restaurant was excellent, as well as some fun unusual cocktails. Loved the little touches - free filtered water (including a water bottle for day trips), free laundry, fresh towels. Wild elephants are a short scooter ride away.
