Overview
The Long Hostel is the most modern, most popular and largest Hostel in Arugam Bay! The hostel has a 15.60 kWp solar system (see picture in gallery) which has been expanded with lithium batteries to store electricity. As such, we are the only "Green" property in Arugam Bay which provides always electricity during power outages without running a diesel generator. It's built in 2016 and offers accommodation for 42 guests. Air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned dorms or private rooms with attached bathrooms and budget dorms with fans and common bathrooms. All beds in the dorms have a locker for each guest for the security of luggage. The property has a coffee-shop offering European coffee, espresso, cappuccino and iced coffee. The hostel also offers breakfast, lunch. dinner, short dishes, drinking water, cool drinks and fruit juices. Laundry service is provided at this property. The bathrooms are all modern and cleaned daily. In the outdoor garden are hammocks, a few with a canopy. The hostel provides stands for surfboards to store them secure. For the security of the guests a CCTV system with recorder is equipped around the hostel. In the Lobby is a refrigerator for the food storage of our guests. Guests can enjoy the on-site restaurant. Free private parking is available on site. Certain units feature a seating area where you can relax.

The accommodation runs very smoothly overall. The bathrooms and showers are consistently clean and well maintained, and the rooms are always tidy and comfortable. The air conditioning works perfectly. There’s also a cozy outdoor area with plenty of space to relax or hang your things. The staff truly stands out – incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help with check-in, check-out, or any request. All in all, it’s a fantastic place to stay and offers excellent value for money. Highly recommended!

Best hostel in Arugam Bay. It kept very clean throughout my stay. Love the separate communal bathrooms and toilet. Keep the room away from extra unnecessary humidity and smell. Tons of natural light and lots of social areas. Some room dont have air conditioning but it was manageable even during the hot season.

It is very practical, near the city and it has all you need. They have a pretty good system with water bottles. You get one by arrival and you can refill it for 100 LKR.

Super clean facilities. Minimal but great socializing spaces. The personal water bottle was a great touch. My check in and check out times were very odd but the property accommodated me graciously in their shared spaces as I waited for my room to be available and provided space to keep my bags.

“Good to meet people”
It’s a good place to stay when you want to connect to people and it’s located in the center close to the beach. There is a lot of party so if you want some calm nights, it’s not the place to be. If you up for a good time and some nights out or party at the hostel, this is your place. Staff was super nice and helpful. :)
