Great location, close to the beach but not at the busy part of town. Spacious room. The host was lovely and also did our laundry which was great.

I had one of the greatest experiences at Hilltop! Everything was super clean. I stayed in a family room, and it was so spacious, I had plenty of room for everything. The garden was also beautiful. after visiting the sea, I loved sitting there and enjoying the flowers and trees. I especially want to say the biggest thank you to the host. Theeran was an amazing person! He did everything possible (and even the impossible) for us. On the last day, he even bought our tickets to the airport. He was so helpful and stayed in touch with us every moment we were there. I spent 7 nights at Hilltop and can truly say that I’ll be back for sure!

We stayed at Hilltop House for two nights in July 2025 with our family in two bungalows. It was a wonderful place to stay! Clean, everything worked, a beautiful garden, 200 meters from the beach but in a quiet location. Around the corner is a wonderful breakfast and lunch spot: Shady Lane Arugam Bay. Unparalleled, absolutely delicious! Back to Hilltop House, and what we will definitely remember is the hospitality and kindness of our host, Theepan. For example, he patiently, efficiently, and quickly arranged a doctor's appointment for us. Nothing was too much trouble. We will always remember Hilltop House, and especially the person behind it, Theepan. Thank you so much, Theepan.

Lots of space in our room and outside on the patio with a lovely tropical garden. Kitchen to use as well. Close to the beach and all facilities.

Everything was so amazing and nice, the rooms were clean, WiFi was great and the Ac as well, we had Theppan make us breakfast almost every day with fresh ingredients and it was so tasty and cheap, we wanted to stay more but everything was fully booked! 10/10 experience

“Little oasis in Arugam Bay.”

Location was close to the shops and restaurant but away from the traffic noise. Staff were very friendly and accomodating. They encouraged us to fill our water bottles from their bubbler rather than use single use bottles. Grounds well maintained and tidy. Offered to do washing for us for free. Room was stylish, simply furnished and tasteful.

Nice and comfortble bed with a good shower. The room was very clean and the property supplied filttered water our entire stay.

The garden place full of trees and plants and sand flor beetween houses, outdoor shower, big room, use of free cold water, big shower cabin, offer for, room cleaning offer, you can use stuff from kitchen ( plates, bowls..)

Hilltop House was PERFECT! The room was spacious, comfortable, and clean. We loved the outside space where we could chill and read a book. The property is in such a perfect area of Arugam Bay—away from the chaos of the main town, within walking distance to the main surf break, and it felt hidden away and so private and relaxing. Theepan was such an amazing host. He was so helpful and lovely! This place is a gem and I couldn't recommend it more highly.

Great location close to Main Street and the beach which is very helpful as getting tuk tuk out of the main area can be somewhat overwhelming. Quiet area close to amazing cafe (Shady Lane) and dinner spot (Emily’s). Theepan is very accomodating, helpful and welcoming - always responded promptly to any requests. Couldn’t recommend Hilltop House enough!

“Cozy, Calm, Authentic!”

Calm surroundings and a beautiful little garden. Cozy little huts (incl A/C) with patio, where you can read and relax with fan. Walking-distance to Main Point für surf, Short Walk to main road. Theepan runs the place and is very kind and helpful. He organized also transport for us back to South Coast Midigama.

Perfect location if you wanna live close to the surfbreak in town and close to the restaurants and beach bars. The rooms are so pretty and spacious with a covered balcony. We learned how to open a coconut ourselves, that was lovely and the garden is super beautiful with lots of trees and animal sounds.
