I had an amazing stay at Eastwind Surf Camp in Arugam Bay. From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel welcome and part of the family. Everyone was friendly, helpful, and always smiling, which made the whole experience even more special. The surfing was absolutely incredible. Whether you’re a beginner or more experienced, the waves in Arugambay are perfect, and the instructors at the camp are patient, skilled, and really passionate about surfing.I improved a lot and had so much fun in the water every day. What made the trip even more memorable was the beautiful nature and wildlife around the area. Seeing elephants, birds, and the peaceful scenery between surf sessions was something I’ll never forget. It’s the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation. Great people, great waves, and unforgettable memories, I truly enjoyed my stay and would love to come back again!

“Amazing”

When I first walked in I was a little shocked at how dark and dungeon the room was, but I quickly became thankful for it when the temperatures were reaching 40C outside and my room was perfectly cool. The bed is huge and the aircon worked great. Lots of space to throw all your junk around too. No hot water but you really don’t need it. 4 towels as well! 2 minute walk to the beach. It’s behind some other buildings so you don’t even get street noise. Breakfast was so tasty. I loved it here.

“The best hostel experience I’ve ever had!”

My stay at East Wind Surf Camp was simply perfect. I originally planned to stay only 5 days, but I ended up staying for 6 weeks – that already says it all. The vibe at East Wind is unique and truly incomparable. Friends from other hostels would regularly come over just to experience it. The whole team, especially Allan and his family, are incredibly kind-hearted people who make life easier in every possible way. They manage to make you feel at home within no time. From time to time, we even did private tours together with the whole hostel, where they showed us their personal favorite spots – experiences you could never book anywhere else. Without a doubt, this was the best hostel experience I’ve ever had.

Eastwind Surf Camp is such a special and lovely place in Arugam Bay! You immediately feel at home. Allan and the whole team are warm-hearted and genuine people. They even took care of me while I was sick. I can wholeheartedly recommend staying here – it will truly bring joy to your time in Arugam Bay!

Lovely location, quiet vibe and all the things you need. Sometimes communication was slow. Rooms were simple but could get quite hot even with the fan running. Excellent breakfast and enjoyed our stay.

Loved it here! Place is lovely, location is great and the host was so helpful even helping us check our tuk tuk oil. Would stay again.

- the place is very near to the beach, on the outskirts of the city but still in the main road :) - the people are very nice and help you with everything - sharing bathroom was cleaned everyday and room was also clean

Allan is an absolute legend. He handled all my silly questions and requests. Organised a scooter for us and let us have a shower after we had checked out. The rooms are simple with everything you need.

Very good restaurant for breakfast and diner in the premises. Surf lessons with good and frendly instructors.

Definitely the best hostel in Arugam Bay. Allan and his family do everything to make sure you feel comfortable. I had to extend my stay by one night because my flight times changed, and it seemed that most hostels were fully booked. Allan was so kind and provided me with a room without charging anything for the last night. The hostel is close to the beach, and there are countless restaurants nearby. Thank you for the wonderful stay, Allan!

“An amazing place to stay if you look for a cheap simple stay and are happy to be very independent!”

People were super super nice! The guest staying are slightly older so not pure hostel vibes but after a few days I adapted and made friends outside! Loved to come back home and have my peace.

Good location in town and we were glad that there was air conditioning
