We had an amazing stay at Drift! Kannan made the stay very enjoyable. We loved his surf lessons, and he always made sure we felt safe and welcome. He was available to help us anytime during the day. The location was perfect, just a few minutes to go to the beach. We would really recommend staying at Drift!

“Best place to stay in Arugam Bay!”

Kannan is the most amazing host! Communication was great, he showed us where to surf and supported us with everything we needed. The tuk tuk safari was the best! We loved it. The rooms are clean and have everything you need. Wifi works perfect! The accomodation is close to the main point for surfing, which was ideal. We also enjoyed preparing some food in the shared kitchen, which has everything to cook a meal. We enjoyed our stay a lot. Can definitely recommend staying here!

“Kannan is a fantastic host and can advise on everything in the area as he is from there.”

Everything was great, the breakfast was delicious and Kannan was the best host. Make sure you go on the tuk tuk safari with him, we saw a large family of elephants, lots of crocodiles and Hornbills! He also arranged a safari for us to the national park with a great driver where we were so lucly to see a Leopard make her kill. Kannan is very attentive and always available to assist you any anything you need at all, and he makes a fab breakfast. Surfboard rental and lessons with Kannan were available which was super handy. Would def recommend, and would love to come back sometime!

We had the best time at Drift. The location is perfect (right off the main strip but just far enough away to be quiet and peaceful). The vibe is beautiful with all the plants/trees surrounding the building. The rooms are spacious with good aircon. The best part about the stay was Kannan. He is so kind, friendly and very funny. He was so helpful and always went out of his way to assist us (eg surf board hire, dinner recommendations). He is also the best surf coach - some amazing tips and took us to some less crowded surf spots which was great. We loved our daily sunrise surf sessions. We will miss seeing him everyday! We highly recommend to stay at drift! We really didn’t want to leave but will definitely come back

Excellent location! Kannan the host is fantastic and goes out of his way to take care of his guests. Kannan is also an excellent surf teacher and guide, taking us to the main surf spots and also has all the gear or great suggestions for hire. He also runs a fantastic safari tour to watch elephants and other wildlife at the end of the day. The accommodation is set back from the beach so not affected by the noise of beach parties etc, yet still located a stones throw from the water and a five minute walk to the centre of the main road with restaurants etc. Highly recommend staying at drift!

Really nice sized rooms, great AC, clean, etc all the usual good things and really close to the beach. Kannan is great, easy to talk to, and helpful with whatever you need. I'd recommend his safari tuktuk tour for something different than the beach every day.

Drift is a small and very charming place. My room was really comfortable, spacious and cool(vital in August in Sri Lanka) Kannan is a brilliant host, super friendly and helpful. We just got back from a 5.30 am surf trip to Elephant Point in his Tuktuk - great fun. Location was great for me - near to the main point surf, quieter than being on the main strip but some good bars and restaurants a very short walk away.

“Lovely stay”

Amazing location away from the busy streets but still very close to the main beach and road. Spacious room with good AC that you will need for the hot climate in Arugam Bay. The owner, Kannan, really makes the stay complete. We took surfing lessons which we would higly recommend and he even tool us on a mini safari to see elephants! Would come here again.

“We loved our stay at Drift”

Location was perfect. Very nice restaurants at this end of the bay … Emily’s, Shady Lane, meori etc. come out of the property turn right brings to the beach. Turn left takes you to the street with shop for water etc and also lots of restaurants and bars. Room is large and quiet at night, the birds are the alarm in the morning. Very close to walk to surfing spot. We loved the terrace and the lovely trees and plants. Kannan was a great host. Everything was great and we didn’t want to leave. We highly recommend this property. There was no hot water but showering under cold water that turned lukewarm warm was refreshing and we didn’t miss hot water as it was so warm in May.

My husband and I stayed here for twelve days and loved it. Can't beat the location, the rooms are clean and comfy and Kannan is such a great host (he's a surf instructor so hit him up if you want some lessons!)

“The Drift: the best place to stay!”

We loved everything. The Drift is a great place to stay in Arugam Bay. It’s very well situated, very close to Main Point for the surfers and very close to everything actually. The place is very clean, nicely decorated, the garden is beautiful and there’s a little kitchen where you can cook your meals. There’s AC in the rooms plus a fan. It is just perfect. But what made this stay unique and unforgettable is the host Kannan who has done his best to make our stay great. He gave us advice, made sure all the family was safe when we went to the beach. We can only praise him. Kannan is a great person who has a big heart and meeting him has made all the difference. Thank you Kannan. :)

“Very close to beach”

Great location, nice host. Good base for some surf days in A-Bay. Don't expect anything fancy. Basic but new room upstairs. Nice little terrace upstairs to wind down after a day out. Many good cafes, bars, restaurants close-by.
