Evening with an ok stay, I have been so disappointed by the check out we received with another client. First of all at 10h05, almost ready with our bags done, one of the volunteer told us that if we were slow we will pay more for the afternoon with has stressed us a bit but it’s ok (Check out is at 10h). The main problem now, During our stay, we have drink a beer with the volunteers that let us came with a can in the common room and even stayed with us. After 24h without saying anything to us, they say during the check out that because we got a outside drink inside, they will kept our 50 reals each caution (100 reals/17€). Not only a caution is supposed to be used if we are breaking something to repare it, but all the volunteers let us get in with it, with make us think it’s was ok. If not we would have never done that. They used the excuse that it’s written in the rules, that first of all I don’t know by heart but also they are written only in Portuguese in the hostel. For budget travelers that have payed 100 reals two night there, paying the double because two can of beers have been in the common area is to my opinion absolutely not fare at all. I felt robbed, like they used any excuse to take money from us. I think that this decision come from the boss of the hostel ( that you never see ) and that the volunteers couldn’t do much about it. But telling us at the right moment that it’s forbidden could have saved us from this mess. Also, Given the excessive marijuana use in the common areas by the volunteers, I find it slightly inappropriate to make us feel guilty over a beer. In conclusion, we feel a huge disappointment over this stay even if we met some very nice volunteers in between. The fault might go to the hostel boss.

An old hostel in need of TLC but ok for the price. Staff were friendly, such a shame they felt the need to leave a fake review using my account. This is my edited version but most people won't bother.

Local proximo a todas as praias, mercados e vida noturna. Bem limpo e organizado, ambiente alternativo. Recomendo muito.

The kitchen and the amenities were nice, the party at the weekend was fun. The location was good. One of the mixed dorms had a nice balcony.
