Well located, less than 10 minutes from the main square yet in a quiet location for a peaceful night's sleep. The owner was very accommodating, and super lovely.

Fabiola is very nice and person . Makes a lot of effort for her guests to feel like at home . Quiet location , upper rooms with nice views . Hot water and comfy beds.

Perfect location, just a short walk to Plaza de Armas. It is also one of the Peru Hop drop-off and pick-up points, extremely convenient. The place is very quiet and the hot water works perfectly. This host is undoubtedly the best I have met in Peru. I arrived at 5 a.m. with Peru Hop. The host waited for me, let me check in early with no extra cost, and told me to rest well before formal check-in. I accidentally overpaid 100 soles, and the host reminded me at once. Such honesty is rare. I feel so lucky to meet this warm, kind and honest host in Arequipa. Highly recommended!

“Very nice stay”

Nice hostel in quiet area of arequipa. I stayed in the private room with bathroom and the room was spacious. It had an outlet next to the bed, a small fridge you can store some things in, a table and a closet. Owner (Fabiola) is very nice. I arrived very early after an overnight bus and was able to go to my room already and sleep for a few hours. Laundry is also available for 7 soles/kg.

Good location near the centre of town. Host stayed up to let me check in early after getting off the Peru hop bus in the early morning!

“Wonderful time”

I had a lovely stay. The place is very close to the city centre and everything was comfortable. There was always hot water, the bed was comfortable, and the breakfast was delicious. The owner was incredibly kind and welcoming, very helpful with great tips, and always available when we needed anything. I would definitely stay here again.

“Illegal additional charges. Bad exchange rate. No credit card payment. Changes prices.”

I was illegally charged a VAT tax. When I requested a refund the owner threw me out on the street at 22:00. She said the VAT tax is a cost of doing business with booking.com. Illegal to charge a foreign tourist a VAT tax in Peru….

“Sweetest owner ever!”

The owner is the sweetest I've ever encountered in all my travels. She was very involved with my safety and well-being. It's truly heartwarming this still exists in the world. This a nice homestay like experience although there are plenty of facilities for guests so it feels like a hotel also. There are both shared dorm type rooms as well as private rooms. The room was very clean and in good condition. If I need to be in Arequipa again, I know where I'm going.

“Friendly and hospitable hostel. Great value.”

Fabiola and her family are excellent hosts. The hostel is situated on a quiet street within walking distance of the main Plaza and historic centre. The rooms are spacious and clean with a lovely attention to detail. Towels, soap and TP are provided. The shower is hot and there is a refrigerator in the room. Breakfast is on the sunny roof terrace. Everything works. There is a kitchen downstairs for the use of guests and lots of information about tours, restaurants and places of interest in and around Arequipa. Fabiola can organise any tours for you and answer any questions you may have. One of the best hostels I have stayed in. It's great value with a friendly and hospitable atmosphere. I highly recommend Akao House.

Everything was perfect

I simply have no words to describe the kindness of the owner. She did everything to make me feel the best possible. The only thing I wish I had said bye to was that I stayed longer. The rooms are also nice and clean. Come and see for yourself. If I could, I would give it a rating of 20 out of 10.

The Hostel is in a quiet area of Arequipa located. I stayed in a 4 Bed room. It was big enough and enough space. The hostel was well equipped with all you need for a good stay. The host was very friendly and helpful, with all questions i had. I can recommend this hostel.

This is a cute hostel run by the nicest family. Fabiola looked after me when I got food poisoning (don't eat ceviche from the market). The whole family was really friendly. The rooms are nice and the location is good, ten minutes from the historical centre.

“Sweet, homey hostel in Arequipa”

This is a relatively new hostel in Arequipa, located just 10 minutes from the Plaza de Armas in a pretty quiet spot. There is a nice roof terrace to hang out with other travellers or the pet birds and rabbit. My room and bathroom was clean and comfortable. Best of all was Fabiola, who runs the hostel, who is among the kindest and loveliest people I've met while travelling through Peru! (You can book tours through the hostel too)
