Overview
Surrounded by beautiful tranquil countryside and well-kept gardens, this charming family-run country house offers comfortable accommodation, tasty fresh food and a traditional Irish welcome. Just a few minutes’ walk from the very heart of Ardara, overlooking the beautiful Donegal Highlands, Woodhill House is surrounded by its own attractive grounds and has its own old walled garden. The house is just half a mile (0.8 km) from the sea and a quarter of a mile (0.4 km) from the centre of the coastal town of Ardara. This coastal manor house has a long and rich history, with some parts of the original building dating back to the 17th century. Today the hotel offers peace and quiet in a wonderful tranquil location, as well as a small bar with a real open fireplace and a good restaurant in the old house.

Quiet setting a few minutes walk from the town centre. Large room with 2 double beds. Large bathroom with bath and shower and a bidet.

I have been going to woodhill last 12 years and the welcome John gives you when you arrive is is second to none. He has keeped the character and charisma of the property in tact and we had a great time exchanging stories over a pint and a cosy log fire, Helen was lovely at breakfast time which was very tasty.

The breakfast was excellent, and the service was first class. Nothing was too much trouble, and the staff were welcoming and very friendly. They were very kind and respectful to our 97-year-old mother, who enjoyed all the attention.

This was our first visit to Donegal. Location was easy enough to find with in-car navigation. Room was big and comfortable enough. Hosts were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great. 10/10, will come again!

Lovely looking exterior, in peaceful surroundings. It is easily walkable into Ardara along a farm track with great views out to sea. Recommended by our host!!

It’s a classy grand house set in a beautiful country garden on outskirts of Ardara village. The little bar area is homely and stately at the same time. We love staying there

The property advertised a restaurant which was not functioning. The town was a long walk with only one bar open to serve food in the evening. The place needed a lot of investment
