“Real guest house experience”

Amazing experience in a very relaxing environment with all people being very nice and kind. We immediately felt the good vibes of the place and we totally enjoyed our stay there that we even extended more than what we have planned to. We met amazing people that took our souvenirs from our trip to another level. We would recommend this place to everyone searching to relax and enjoy the beautiful sunset, connect with locals and other guests and feel like home.

The location is very good for accessing the local beach if you're in the area for surfing. The owner was very helpful. He recommended some good local restaurants and other beaches to access

Perfect place to relax just infront of the beach. Sam the owner is super helpful when it comes to anything. The place is clean and has a huge kitchen with all the tools you need. The surfspots around are easily accesible by motorbike or walking for some time. Definitily recommend el marabu!

Pretty much everything! Beachfront location was epic, lots of hammocks to chill out in. The dorm was really big and spacious and never full. Kitchen was fantastic and big and always clean and easy to cook in :). Sam is a wonderful and helpful host :)

This is an amazing hostel right at the coast, Wonderfull calm spot, Samuel is a very kind and good host. Surfboards and motorcycles can be rented close by in the "town". clean spacious kitchen and all tools necessary to make nice meals. also coconuts is a big plus! have fun here!

“Beautiful, family-run hidden spot”

Came for 2 nights, ended up staying 2 weeks! The owners Laetitia and Sam have built a beautiful oasis on Aposentillo beach, a beginners break and within walking distance from the famous Boom for more advanced surfers. The property is surrounded by nature and it was great to step out of bed everyday and straight into the surf! I'll be back :)

The location is right on the water, a reasonable walking distance to the Boom. Water views from the spacious dorm, and a well thought out design. This would have to be the best surf hostel.i have ever stayed in and at an excellent price.

Sam is the loveliest host, super kind and generous with advice and help if you need it, plus we loved the range of surf breaks nearby :)

This place has soul and the owner has a good heart. It's a charming place with superb location - the waves start 15 meters from the door of the dorm, and the break is beginner-friendly. The Boom is a 20-minute walk away, very doable. It's a funny feeling when you wake up and the first thing you see is the ocean thru the window. Something feels right in the world just then.

“the perfect getaway”

It was just wonderful. The terrace is directly facing the sea but is shady the whole day that you can enjoy the view and relax. The breeze of the sea cools down the room that you don’t even need the fans and the whole property is so nicely arranged that you feel home the moment you step in. We enjoyed the (by far) best equipped kitchen we had so far. It’s cool that you can sit at the bar or lie in the hammock in the common area if you like to chat and have some company and go back to your beach-hut for tranquility. Tranquil is the best word to describe everything around. We came with the car and i would always recommend to rent a motorbike to get around. Which is super cheap and gives you the opportunity to try more surfspots than the one right in front of the property. Sam is very helpful with information how, where to rent surfboards, bikes, etc. We are already looking forward to our next stay.

“Beautiful location and relaxed atmosphere.”

The location of El Marabu is just perfect. Right on the beach. The beach is quiet with beautiful little waves great for long boarders or kids. There is a large shared kitchen and nice shared seating area to hang out in. It has a really friendly, relaxed atmosphere. We had a large private room with our own bathroom. The room was nice and big and had a large covered balcony.

The location is really amazing!

Extended my one week stay into a two month stay. Absolutely loved this place. The volunteers currently running the place are absolute legends and make sure you feel right at home. Location is secluded, unusually close to the water and super lush. Surfed the boom everyday. No problem to walk there and even less of a problem when you have a bike. The newly upgraded kitchen is really well equiped, super spacious and always very clean. There is free drinking water and amazing fresh bread that you can order for 1.50 USD only. Make sure to stack up on food in Chinandega or Leon before you come. You can get basic stuff in town, no cheese no good coffee etc. though.. Wanna surprise the hardworking volunteers? Bring some extra cheese from Chinandega, they will be forever gratefull 🙏
