The Booking listing doesn’t do this charming, family-run property - a hotel rather than a hostel - the justice it deserves. The welcoming casual cafe-bar bustles with friendly regulars, breakfast is fresh crusty sandwiches and great coffee served swiftly and with a smile, the decor throughout the rooms, corridors, and especially the restaurant (think: dark wood, oil paintings and white cotton curtains) are beautiful, the staff know your name and what room you’re in and take good care of you, remembering your requests, communicating, helping. The restaurant food is magnificent! There are some lovely walks nearby. Pet-friendly. Parking nearby.

For Bikers it's perfect as Michael, the manager, who speaks English, allows you to park your bike in a secure space at the back of the hotel. No need to empty your panniers. Breakfast: baguette, juice and coffee is 5 euros. Nice vibe, nice staff, nice bar downstairs, for one night, perfect.

Restaurant was closed for dinner. Disappointing as it is is highly rated. Having had confirmation of a double bed when I booked the room provided had two single beds. We asked to change but no alternative was available.

There is an underground garage so parking our motorcycles safely was easy. We had a long ride from Santander and wanted to take some nice roads over the mountains to France the next day. Perfect spot for a launch.

The staff was overwhelmingly friendly, helpful and welcoming. The building is atmospheric and clean. The overall quality of the accommodation was much better than I expected for the price. The small town of Agoitz is in a beautiful location next to a river and it was great place for an overnight stay on our road trip.
