A very nice host, we had home made food there and it was lovely. The owner clearly takes time preparing the great food with local ingredients, some of which grown by his family. The owner was attentive and knowledgeable with great english.

“Remarkable hosts able to organise everything!”

The whole house was clean and tidy with a beautiful garden. It was in a quiet location and it was perfect for me. I was greeted with a delicious soursop juice on arrival! There was a great restaurant a 10 minutes walk away which understood about gluten free. The room was very comfortable and thank goodness for airconditioning. Wasabtha and his wife were lovely and Wasabtha organised all my tours including driving me to Polonnarawa, picking up a the best guide, driving us around and delivering me to my next accommodation. I was actually sad to leave.

“A highlight of our time in Sri Lanka”

We stayed for three nights and were very impressed, this is one of the best home stays we've done. The host is very generous with his time and knowledge and was happy to arrange a full day tour to Wilpattu for us through his connections. This was the tour of a lifetime, we cannot recommend it enough. The house itself is very charming. The room is large and comfortable and everything is clean. There are even chairs to lounge in and filtered water. The breakfasts and dinners were also excellent and it was lovely to eat in the courtyard among the lush greenery. Such a nice sample of Sri Lankan home cooking. We're grateful for the hospitality and for making our time in Anuradhapura a highlight for us. We recommend unreservedly.

“Peace and simplicity”

A homestay managed by a helpful professional couple who can also arrange excursions. The 3 rooms are clean and comfortable, with both aircon and fans. Good local meals and a laundry service are available. Credit cards are accepted. The location is quiet and wonderfully verdant. The lakeside walk to the town centre takes about 20 minutes. Recommended for peace and simplicity.

“Wonderful stay”

Our home stay has been the best so far during our time in Sri Lanka. Our hosts were so welcoming and willing to help in anyway possible. Breakfasts and dinner were delicious and plentiful. Wasantha and his wife were the ultimate hosts. Wasantha arranged guides and transport as we needed them. When I found out I had left some personal belongings at the previous hotel, Wasantha went out of his way to collect them and posted them to our next destination. Would definitely stay again and can highly recommend.

“Wonderful hospitality.”

Our host family are lovely people who go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need. We did a Wilpattu safari organised by our host which was wonderful and he drove us to Jaffna for our next stay. The 4 hour journey flew by as we chatted about Sri Lanka as well as many other subjects. We had dinner twice and breakfast. Both were delicious. We also loved chatting to our host’s daughter who is a lovely young lady. Our room was spotlessly clean, the bed was comfortable and it was very peaceful. One item that would be very useful in the room is a rubber mop to clear away the water after showering.

Lovely house, with front veranda and comfortable room. Owners were so kind and friendly and the breakfast was delicious. Restaurants were close enough to walk to lake is nearby.

Very lovley homestay in Anuradhapura. Wasante, the owner helped with areanging tours in anuradhapura. Rooms are clean and nice, with mosqito repellent. I can recommend breakfast and dinner at the waterfront homestay. I defenitly will come back here.

“Delightful welcoming home stay”

A true home stay tucked away in a quiet residential street. We were warmly welcomed by our hosts who went out of their way to assist us with tours, transport and meals. Our rooms were clean and spacious with en-suite shower rooms, AC and ceiling fan. The outside terrace is a lovely place to eat, relax, read. We appreciated the delicious breakfasts and evening meals - all home cooked and very good value. Highly recommend staying here if visiting Anuradhapura - you will enjoy great hospitality!

Wasantha and his family are lovely! The stay was comfortable, we had dinner one evening, it was exceptional. Wasantha arranged a scooter for us so we could explore, and drive us to our next location in Sigriyia.

“Too many lies, no real hospitality: don’t book here!”

I choose homestays to experience local culture and connect with families, but here I experienced the exact opposite. The owner never introduced me to his family, I had to introduce myself to his wife. Overall, his attitude lacked transparency and seemed driven purely by money. He tried to sell me excursions at inflated prices, claiming the guide was “highly sought-after.” He then put me in an uncomfortable situation with this guide, to the point that I decided to organize a tour on my own. I quickly found another tour through another hotel at a fair price, without any issues. The most serious issue was lying: breakfast was never prepared on either of the two days. The excuse was that, due to the cyclone, there was no “hygienic food available,” while he was eating every day with his family and hosting people at home, and hiding behind this terrible excuse because his wife was busy and he probably didn’t want to cook. In Sri Lanka, even very simple accommodations are offering generous breakfasts, I am traveling 1 month around after cyclone and this explanation was clearly a lie and completely unacceptable!!! You CANNOT use such a bad happening to hide yourself. Karma will teach this man he should not behave this way. Other promises were not kept: he said he would heat up my dinner (which I had bought myself) for breakfast, as I tried to be practical, but he did not do it until I reminded him. He also said he would take me to Sigiriya, but instead took someone else. The room itself is nice, but there is no privacy: the rooms open onto the entrance, and there are always his friends coming in and out. You always have to keep the curtains closed so it’s basically a bunker. However, the real problem is not the house, but the owner’s behavior — greedy and disrespectful toward tourists and using a terrible happening, the cyclone, to justify himself.
