“A homely stay away from the city noise.”

Sanjaya, and (chef) “Garpreet” are very accommodating hosts. We were treated to delicious and varied breakfasts - more than we could eat! Driver Manu offers local tours and we arranged for him to take us to Kandy in his immaculate hybrid vehicle - very safe. The pool is very clean and refreshing and we used it a lot. Opt for a “deluxe” upstairs garden view room - the hornbill birds, squirrels and mongoose can be seen. Retreat is away from the hubbub of the town.

“The staff make it!”

Staff were very helpful especially helping us arrange a coach at short notice due to flight changes. The room was pleasant and the bed was comfy. A short tuk tuk to see the sights.

The location is very convenient. Tge breakfast was excellent. More importantly, Sanjaya and his staff provided us excellent service.

What a great place. Really friendly and great food. We were very well looked after. The staff were fabulous. I can't recommend this place highly enough and they'll be opening an on-site restaurant soon. The food was the best we've had in Sri Lanka. There's a lovely pool too. Handily placed for the lake and Anuradhapura's many attractions.

Fantastic breakfast and amazing curries in the evening. The staff were incredibly helpful with arranging a tuk tuk to view key sites. The staff were really flexible about check out time and helped us with a change in travel plans with onward travel. The pool was great fun with the kids

Our stay at Thinaya Lake Resort was comfortable and peaceful, tucked away in a quiet neighbourhood that’s perfect for unwinding. The staff were caring, warm, and responsive, always ready to help with a smile, and the hearty Sri Lankan breakfast was a lovely start to each day. Guests should plan ahead and place dinner orders well in time, as dining options around the property are limited. Overall, it’s a no-frills, value-for-money stay that delivers exactly what it promises

The amazing staff. Maybe not the most luxurious place you'll find in sri lanka, but definitely the place with the nicest staff. The room was very big with comfortable bed and a good working ac. The location at the lake is very nice and close to mihintale. Staff helped us out with the ancient tour for reasonable prices. Dinner and breakfast were absolutely amazing and full of taste. Staff did anything to make you feel comfortable.

We received a very warm welcome, the breakfast was good and the staff were very friendly and hospitable. They helped us with everything and we would definitely come back here.

“Relaxing hidden gem with sympathic management”

We ordered Sri Lankan breakfast, it was a dream. Fresh and tasty. We took it at the pool area. So nice this bamboo, wish to have it on my terrace. The rooms were pretty, large balconies to the palms, quiet, a bit from the ugly new city away.

Outstanding stay, food was some of the best food we had our entire trip in Sri Lanka. The staff are amazing, they will go out of their way to ensure your stay is peaceful, organised and that you have everything you need. We organised a city tour and safari through the hotel which both went so smoothly, they did our washing for us and a great pool. The safari was a highlight for our trip and the hotel thought of everything for us down to the toilet roll! Can not fault this place at all, pro tip definitely try the banana fritters.

Owners were nice and friendly, they were very helpful with changing the booking and helping us start our tuktuk in the middle of the night. Beds were comfortable. Spacious room.

The staff were lovely, very friendly and helpful. The rooms were huge, very clean and comfortable and good value for money. Away from the hustle and bustle of town but very easy to get a tuk tub wherever you wanted to go which is easily arranged for you. We went to the old market and got some good bargains. The swimming pool was clean and nice and cool.

We liked this as it was a little outside the busy city, but close enough to the old city and all the history. The pool was bigger than expected and refreshing after a busy day exploring

“Great stay in Anuradhapura”

We had a wonderful stay at Thinaya Lake Resort. Upon arrival, we received a very warm welcome, and throughout our stay the staff did everything they could to make us feel comfortable. Both breakfast and dinner were well taken care of and incredibly tasty. The hotel has a spacious and pleasant swimming pool, perfect for relaxing. Our room was clean, spacious, and had very comfortable beds. What made our stay even more special was the help we received from Pradeep. We were supposed to go to Ceylon Resort Wilpattu for a stay and safari after our time at Thinaya, but that was cancelled last minute. Pradeep went out of his way to help us and arranged a safari for us upon checkout. We were picked up early the next morning from an alternative hotel, and he even arranged breakfast and lunch for us to take along. All in all, we had a fantastic stay at a lovely hotel with exceptionally friendly and helpful people. Highly recommended.
