“Authentic, relaxing, wise and personable host”

Milan is an outstanding host. We kept (happily) extending our stay. Milan offered us wise advice about when to visit the Buddhist temples so that it was comfortable in the heat as well as informative. We are both in our mid(plus!) 60’s. We were guided and driven by the excellent guide Siri. Take Milan’s advise, and trust him. We loved the lake view and garden. Being able to circumnavigate the tank ( reservoir) for a 45 minute walk in the morning or evening was a welcome distraction from the busyness of the city. Lovely room with a view of the garden. Authentic fresh breakfasts and evening meals but also a 10 minute walk to nearby, lakeside restaurant and excellent coffee shop.

This hotel truly exceeded our expectations. The manager goes above and beyond for guests, always taking the time to explain trips, local attractions, and the surrounding area. It’s clear he genuinely cares about helping people, which builds real trust and makes your stay feel personal and welcoming. Our safari experience was absolutely incredible. The Jeep driver was brilliant — going out of his way to ensure we saw as many animals as possible. Thanks to his dedication, we saw leopards, crocodiles, bears, birds, and many more. The driver who transported us to the safari was the safest we experienced in Sri Lanka. We felt so comfortable and secure that we chose to use him again for our return journey. When we arrived, the tour was very informative, and the guide shared a lot of valuable knowledge. One of the highlights was visiting the temple in the evening, where we witnessed a beautiful local religious ceremony and offerings made to the Buddha — a truly memorable cultural experience. The hotel itself is lovely, with a peaceful setting overlooking a lake, making it a relaxing place to unwind after a day of adventure. Most of all, we left feeling like we had made genuine friends, not just stayed at a hotel. Highly recommended for both the exceptional service and the unforgettable experiences.

Best breakfast of the trip and slightly different to other places! We had a good chat with the owner who is lovely and told us lots of interesting information about the area.

“Little gem on the lake”

I loved the breakfast, the best we had in Sri Lanka. The quiet location on the lake was a bonus.

Milan and his family did their utmost to make a pleasurable stay turn into an unforgettable experience. we were provided with lots of valuable information regarding attractions in the area. when required, we were given the service of a knowledgable guide (who never detoured to “an interesting shop”) or were provided enough information to successfully do our own thing. But the outstanding feature of the Lake Wave are the meals. after sampling the first dinner we immediately decided to have all our meals at the hotel. in a country famous for the quality of its cooking, Milan‘s mother topped them all. be it breakfast or dinner, we always chose Sri Lankan cuisine and in our four week stay in Sri Lanka we had it never better than during the four days we sampled the food at the Lake Wave. a truly exeptionable experience. it‘s a must!

Milan is a wonderful front of house …. His mum an amazing engine room !! Meals superb and Milan just sorts everything…. More than 10 would be appropriate … book it !

There was a very unpleasant odor in the room all the time. Bed sheets weren't clean.

Milan is a great host. He organized a safari tour for us and a great guide to visit the old city of Anuradhapura. He goes out of his way to help his guests with anything they ask. The rooms are spacious and the food is great. He explains a lot about Sri Lankan culture and the food he serves.

It was a great stay with a great host. Also his help with arranging to go to the sights was good. And the food was very tasty too. Thanks for an unforgettable experience.

The great reviews of the host were why we booked - can confirm it's all true. Milan is brilliant, so trustworthy and great integrity - you can really trust him and any recommendations he gives for drivers or guides. Super honest about rates (for transport he compared to PickMe and we got great value) and his guide recommendation was spot on. Dinner and breakfast were excellent, and made of more unusual traditional Sri Lanka dishes we had not found so far. His mom even tailored trousers for my husband. The pool/ snooker table on site was a great for evening and the location on the lake is fabulous, great for a walk.

“Pity we couldn’t stay longer”

We spent three nights in this great little hotel. The hotel is located on the border of the lake, with a very nice garden including hangmats. Milan was a perfect host. We felt at home immediately. He arranged tours and drivers for us on the spot, and had excellent tips for our day programme. His mum’s a great cook, we had all breakfasts and dinners there and tasted many varieties of Sri Lanka food. We played pool in the evening. Would definitely recommend this place!

We can't recommend this place enough. It's a True gem! Milan and his mom are so lovely and friendly! The mom is a great cook and Milan is very knowladgeable about the city and Sri Lanka in general! In 3 days time Milan became best friends with our one year old daughter. Giving her fruits and playing hide and seek! If your looking for a place in Anuradhapura, don't hesitate to stay here.
