We booked Ceylonima Home Stay just as somewhere to rest our heads whilst on a multi-stop-off drive around Sri Lanka. We're so pleased we did! We were greeted by the owners and escorted to our room, which was basic but spotlessly clean. The all-important air-conditioning was strong, there was a TV on the wall (which we didn't use) and a kettle with cups or mugs (I can't remember!) and some free bottles of water. The bathroom was spacious, and included a very welcome shower. We booked for an evening meal and were treated to a chicken-based Sri Lanka/Chinese fusion dish and Lion beer. When they noticed we'd finished, they gladly replenished our bowls. Ice cream to follow. So tasty! Our server is the son of the family. His spoken English was perfect, and he, like his parents were very friendly. After a beautiful, air-conditioned night, a simple breakfast of scrambled egg, sweet coconut pancakes, fruit and yoghurt, tea/coffee, was just right. And then we were on our way. We're very happy to have stayed here and have no hesitation in recommending The Ceyonima Home Stay. Unfortunately, with the war in the Middle-East, the entire hospitality and tourism industry in Sri Lanka is hurting, with unprecedented numbers of last-minute cancellations. Luckily, we'd flown direct from London, and not stopped off in Dubai, as we had. Despite this, everyone we met was just getting on with it, without complaint.

“Great value, friendly homestay - with tasty, traditional home-cooked food”

From the moment we met cheerful Mapa we knew we'd have a warm welcome at this great value homestay where the ensuite accommodation - separate from the family home - was well-equipped, air-conditioned and opened out onto a shady veranda where meals were served by the host and his two smiling sons. Food prepared in the family kitchen by Mapa's wife (so sorry we didn't take her name) was tasty, sustaining and plentiful. We loved it!

Fantastic hosts, delicious dinner and a very comfortable bed. Mapa arranged for his brother (a licensed tour guide) to show us as much as he could in a short space of time. We learnt so much, thank you. Highly recommended.

If you'd like to spend your time in Anuradapura in a relaxing and welcoming place, we highly recommend Ceylonima. Mapa and his wife Kanchi are warm, competent, and always helpful hosts. After our exciting sightseeing and safari, we were delighted to enjoy Kanchi's delicious meals on our first-floor terrace. We ate there all three evenings. Mapa organized the sightseeing and safari for us. The information and prices were always transparent. Mapa and Kanchi are very trustworthy and incredibly warm people. In addition to the excellent value for money, the hosts are incredibly friendly. We wholeheartedly recommend Ceylonima.

Mapa and his family were so kind, helpful and attentive. They helped us organise transport to and from the city, and within the city, and organised a day trip with Mapa's brother, who was so knowledgable and educational. All were at very good prices. Breakfast was amazing, and was very convenient to have amazing dinners with them also. Amazing value for money!

We had an amazing stay at this homestay and truly felt part of the family. The owner and his wife are such warm, fun and genuine people; you can really laugh and talk with them. What we appreciated most is how well the owner senses what you need: sometimes a good conversation, sometimes a bit of quiet to relax. He is incredibly friendly, very helpful and really goes above and beyond for his guests. He took us on a tour through Anuradhapura, explaining the history and Buddhism in a way that was both interesting and easy to understand. Afterwards he dropped us off in Wilpattu and even later drove us to our next accommodation. You can ask him anything about Sri Lanka and the local culture; he is a walking encyclopedia and loves to share. Super host, wonderful family, and a fantastic stay. We would recommend this place to absolutely everyone.
