Chathurika and her team have created a unique accommodation experience. It is beautifully designed, decorated and furnished with magnificent views of the lake. Our bedroom overlooking the water was very comfortable. The Sri Lankan food was the best we’ve had in our 3 week stay and the service impeccable.

“A memorable stay.”

Everything about this property was unique; the setting, the architecture, the pool, the food, the people. Our host organised a wonderful tour of the ancient city for us at the last minute with an excellent guide and comfortable car. The property fronts a lake and bird sanctuary and as an avid bird watcher I was glued to my binoculars. The wildlife was also wonderful. The food is excellent and cooked to order and your palate. I highly recommend staying here, enjoying the serenity and meeting the wonderful owners. We loved it.

The property was beautiful, we had a balcony overlooking a lake with amazing bird life. The room was large, well equipped and clean. The staff were superb and helped with everything we needed including arranging a city tour and onward transport. The food was also excellent and they even had decent wine!

“Tranquility by the lake….with stupa view.”

This is a small and very intimate boutique hotel. We’d booked a King room with Lake view and were given one upstairs, which was wonderful. It had a balcony so you could sit and watch the sun rise over the lake at the bottom of the garden, which was beautiful. The room was really spacious, well appointed and had a massive bathroom. The hotel is in a quiet area so was incredibly peaceful. It has an amazing view of one of the stupas at the Anuradhapura world heritage site and is perfectly located for exploring the archaeological sites. The owners were absolutely brilliant, really engaged in making sure you were having a good time and keen to help in any way they could. Breakfasts were delicious and plentiful. There was an option to eat at the hotel but we ate out both nights in local restaurants. The owner helped arrange transport to/from the restaurants with a local tuktuk driver who was very good value and very reliable. There were some larger hotels nearby but we were really pleased we’d chosen Arachchi Heritage as it was a very personal and curated experience. They book up very quickly and we were lucky that they had a cancellation for part of our stay, which they proactively contacted us to let us know about, so we were able to pounce on the newly created availability. So if you want to stay here don’t delay in booking!

“Wonderful hotel”

This is simply one of the nicest "hotels" I have ever stayed in. The owners were very friendly and ensured everything was perfect. The rooms were well appointed and large including a private outdoor bathroom. The lounge/pool area was stunning too. And let's not forget the food. Simply outstanding. And ignore the other 1 star rating as I am not sure I saw an insect at all.

Gorgeous house right by the lake. Amazing birdwatching just by being there- highly recommended for bird enthusiasts (bring binoculars). Stunning room- in an architect designed building. Feels very special to stay here. Only three rooms, so quiet and personal experience. Food was amazing- stay in for dinner and breakfast unless you have specific plans. Not really other food options in walkable distance.

“A fantastic choice - stylish and relaxing”

This place is a gem. Without question, book it if you can. A tropical modernist villa, about 15 mins out of town, of three guest rooms, around an open pool surrounded by verdant vegetation. Birds and wildlife from the lake at the bottom of the garden are all around, which are a joy to watch from the roof terrace. The room we had was stunning. An outside-inside bathroom, beautiful big bed, loads of space, excellent pillows, great wifi. Chaturika was a warm and friendly host, and her partner is always on hand with facts and figures. The main staff member (sorry, we didn't remember his name) is a delightful, friendly guy. We chose to have dinner in, which was great.

We most thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Arachchi Heritage. It is peaceful and has a great ambience and quiet if anyone is looking for a place to chill and relax. We had dinner both nights and the food was amazing alongside the breakfast as well. They offer both Sri Lankan and Western food and can cater for your level of spice. Our room was upstairs and the views across the lake were beautiful and the birdlife is incredible. They welcome you as an extension of their family and we enjoyed the hospitality and even had the local cows make a visit out the front when having breakfast. We will return no doubt about that

Stunning property beautifully designed with lovely staff and a family feel. The location is so peaceful right on the lake and the room was amazing. The food - particularly our breakfast and dinner was excellent. They also helped us book a TukTuk tour for the ancient city
